I want spears or more characters with projectiles as their main weapon of choice - hopefully if Banjo gets in, he really has nothing resembling a blade, since Kazooie gets used as as gun or club depending on the situation.

I don't have a switch, but if I ever got one, it'd solely be to play Smash Ultimate in order to learn how to main Incineroar.

Unfortunately, Spyro is unlikely to happen. Characters who make it in the Smash Brothers tend to be characters who are popular in both America and Japan and thanks to the crappy camera angles of the Japanese versions of Spyro, he is not popular in Japan.

I brought home a Ridley amiibo and asked my wife if she knew who he was. She said "Spyro???"

I guess the stuff about Nintendo making the choices really didn't mean anything at all, if we're still going to get characters that have absolutely no promotional benefit to Nintendo (unless this means Persona 5 is coming to Switch).

They released Persona Q2 last week in Japan and it has Persona 5 characters ... So TECHNICALLY Joker is already in a game for a Nintendo system.

Getting the game in two weeks.

OH BOY THAT ANNOUNCEMENT WAS TAILOR MADE FOR ME

Here's the few ideas I have about Joker's inclusion:

Joker
-I feel like his series icon will either be the Phantom Thieves' logo, or the stylized "P5"
-Aside from basic jabs, kicks, etc., I think he'll use Arsene for most of his special attacks
-I'd love for his Final Smash to be his All Out Attack, with all the other Phantom Thieves helping out before we get the classic freeze frame

Stage
-Outside of the Velvet Room or a Palace, I can't see any real stages. I'd love to see the Velvet Room, though.

Music
-Remix of Rivers in the Desert
-Remix of Life Will Change
-Last Surprise
-Will Power

Spirits (if we get more)
-I don't see any Spirits outside of the Phantom Thieves and/or their Personas, but I could also see other Personas from the series, and maybe some of the bosses

i think the casino palace will be the stage and will be based around the roulette table which will hopefully be tournament legal. music, of course, is last suprise, life will change, blooming villian, will power, idk what else to put

icon will be the letter p.

jabs and tilts are knife attacks. smash attacks will probably be arsene using cleave. aerials are again him cutting stuff. neutral special is gun. side is eiha or his ambush as a command grab. down is adverse resolve as a counter. up is uhhh him jumping really high or flying idk. final smash is all out attack lol.

*sigh* I know I am probably going to piss people off by saying this, but if Joker is anything to go by, then my biggest fear with the DLC is going to come true. On another note, anyone want to wager how long it will take modders to make a Batman's Joker mod for this clown?

Have they even confirmed how many DLC characters they plan on having, or do we basically have to wait till they say they are not putting any more characters in?

You do know he's called Joker because he's a wildcard(literally, power from all the tarot cards) and not because he's a clown, right? Joker-as-in-clown is Persona 2, not 5.

Also, we have 5 fighters on the pack, so 4 to go.

Friendly reminder that Piranha Plant is not a part of the Pass, so we'll end it with 6 DLC fighters, unless the team comes up with someone else outside of the Pass.

I've mostly been focusing on World of Light.



Use that as a gauge of how long it is.

World of Light is OK, but it doesn't compare to Subspace. I'm at a point where my characters are strong enough to win most matches with one or two Smash Attacks, so it's just a grind of getting through fights. It also took me around 8 hours to find my first boss fight.

It really just needed the odd platforming stage or some sort of mini-game to break up the monotony of doing all of these Spirit Battles. Some are interesting, some are just annoying, but most are barely any different from a normal match.

Japanese IPs are the most likely, and Japanese IPs owned by Nintendo or the third parties already involved with Smash are the most likely of all (Cloud is the only DLC character so far that was owned by a company that wasn't already involved with Smash Bros...Bayonetta and Joker are both Sega, Ryu is Capcom, and everything else has been Nintendo).

Actually that wasn't said. They just said we're gonna get unexpected characters. The content in the packs prioritizes new series (it's easier to create a stage and add songs from a new series than one that is already there), but there's no confirmation about all of the packs being new series or not.

Here's something I don't think anyone noticed yet -- Joker's trailer is done by Atlus. Not CG, the custom style of the game's opening.

honestly if persona 5 comes to switch i wouldn’t mind getting it

Got this game as a surprise gift for my birthday the other day, and it's easily my favorite that I've played this year. King K. Rool and Ridley are everything I hoped they would be and more, and are probably going to be the only two fighters I use from now on.

If we're on the topic of DLC fighters, I think Crash Bandicoot would be great. He has a unique moveset, he fits the style of the game perfectly, he's an iconic character that would be right at home alongside Mario and Sonic, and with the CTR remaster coming up, it would be perfect timing.

Spyro would also be a great one. And I'm still holding out hope for Bandana Waddle Dee.

Anyone wonder if there'll be another Fighter Ballot? Or it's probably been deconfirmed by now. Would be fun to have that again though.

I'd say it's unlikely, or else we would have heard something by now. We're getting at least 6 DLC characters (counting Piranha Plant) with the small possibility of more to come. They likely don't feel the need for another ballot this time around.

That's just the Fighter's Pass or whatever it's called. It wouldn't surprise me the least if we end up with even more. There could be a dozen DLC fighters by the time SSBU ends for all we know... pretty sure five fighters isn't a confirmed limit.
