I'm not sure if it's the people I follow, but I don't see too much problems with Tumblr and drag queens? But then again, drag queens are an incredibly mixed bag when it comes to the LGBT community in general. A majority I've heard love drag queens, because their raunchy humor encourages those in the community to step out of their shell and just have fun. On the other hand, some feel as though drag queens give a bad name to the LGBT community because of their raunchy humor. Others also feel that the practice is an unintentional mockery towards the trans community because a majority of drag queens aren't actually trans. I can only think of one that actually is.

In my mind though, drag queens are a huge contribution to the LGBT community. While I am not part of the community myself, I've seen the effect it has. Drag queens are some of the most influential figures in the LGBT community, because they really don't care what other people think due to the sheer nature of their work, and because all of them are gay in some form, they encourage others in their community to be comfortable with themselves as well.

So my opinion on this show? Well, based on the trailer, I'm a little....skeptical. Based on their silhouettes, it looks like the design of the characters emphasize their manly features which is... really bad?? Drag queens spend a lot of money and time to make sure their manly features disappear as much as possible, and based on comedy stereotypes, cartoon designers make a "drag queen" character more manly if they want to make fun of them. However, I'll remain hopeful. It's a cool concept, so I'll keep an eye out for any reviews.

Am I the only one who thinks this looks cool?

(Though I'm skeptical now based off of TheFlyingSeal's last paragraph. I hope they've spoken to people in the community to create appropriate representation for the show.)

i feel like ive voiced my opinions on this before to you but you nailed my problems with drag queens right there lol

i understand that the large majority of drag queens arent a mockery of trans people, but i hope you can understand why it does. as a trans woman myself, it just kind of feels like a mockery, regardless of good intentions.

regardless, i cant deny their recent impact on popular culture and stuff like that

Hmm, I completely understand that point of view, and I'm so sorry if this sort of thing is offensive to you. I'm not trans, so obviously I can't empathise with what you're going through, but yeah, I do understand what you mean.
...
That being said, I feel like people should be free to explore gender in their own terms. Personally, I don't think that men and women should be restricted to gender-specific attire, or behaviours for that matter.

But if this show becomes a mockery of transgender people then yeah ... uh ... big problem.

I'm just now learning of this but I'm really excited for it. I completely understand how it could potentially be somewhat of a mockery of drag queens and trying to emphasize their masculine features, but to me it seems like they are trying to do very exaggerated caricatures of different body types. It's hard to tell right now and hopefully it ends up being the latter.

The drag community is really big in my area and it could just be my own bias, but the drag queens here are some of the most accepting, loving people. The people here are all about being yourself no matter what that happens to be, and the community they've created is very much inclusive of everyone. I hope this show has the same vibe.

Personally I kind of want to see how this show goes. Like most of the time with trailers I am usually uninterested and the show ends up somehow adding more points to my opinions. But here it can definitely go 2 ways and I am definitely seeing those.

1 hand it can be hecking good and finally convince me to get netflix for my PS3 or computer.

The other hand it could be the train wreck a lot of people would fear it.

But isn't it close-minded to tell people they can't dress and present themselves a certain way just because they don't meet certain qualifications?

I think a lot of drag queens look manlier post-transformation than they do before.
