Never thought I'd be asking this, but do you believe that there are age restrictions when it comes to love? Obviously not between adults and minors, I'm talking two consenting adults. Do you think that there is an age gap limit? If so, how many years?

Personally for me anyone that is 1 decade older than me is completely out of the question when it comes to dating. I just feel uncomfy with dating someone over 10 years older than me.

I wouldn't date someone a lot older than me, but back when I was 22, I had a one-night-stand with someone 19 years older than me, one night after the bar. I may have drunkenly lied and told her I was 30, but whatever. Younger, maybe a couple years, but no more than that. I kinda prefer older anyways.

When talking in context of adults, age is just a number to an extent. I think that as long as life goals, values and intimate desires are the same, age is just a number for adult human beings. At least that is the way I think and act upon in my own personal world even though I am not desiring for any relationships.

Did you even read the first post? They specified two consenting adults........ As for me, I dunno, if you're both of legal age, then why should it matter? At that point age is just a number

When my grandma was 18, she met my grandpa and they started dating. He was 31. It worked for them, but it's still very weird to me.

There was a girl in one of my classes in college who was dating a 70 year old and she was 19. That is wayyy too much of a difference and is creepy to me.

10 or so years might work out, my parents have a gap of 8 years and they're doing fine. A young adult and an old guy is kind of creepy and at that point I don't think it's love, probably money or something.

I prefer women who are older than me by a few years.
I can't go more than a year or two younger than me, though. |

i'm going to use a book called Parable of the Sower. In the book, the main character who is 18 hooks up with a 57 year old and even has a kid with him in the second book. The two legitimately care for each other, and they look out for each other. in a situation like this, I see no problem.
On the other side of the spectrum, if their relationship was based on sex/money then i still really wouldn't care. its not that different than two 25 year olds using each other for sex/money. society might feel uncomfortable with it, but they can't exactly do anything about it. IMO, as long as they aren't hurting anyone then I don't see a problem. (I had to make adjustments to my post for clarity, i guess i completely forgot their ages ; ![]()

Dads in the late 40-50 age range are the best. I'd go as far as 60's depending on the guy, but someone like Robert De Niro could get it no matter how old he was.
Guys my age are fine, but I'd never date a guy in their 30's because it's like peak suck and in my experience they're usually the worst at that age. So I'm 20 and ideally for me either 25 or 55, with a slight preference towards 55.

I've been wondering about it, and I think it would be heartbreaking to be in a relationship with someone 20 years older than you while you have to watch them slowly deteriorate into old age. For a couple who are respectively 20 and 40 years old things would be relatively fine, but then that will turn to 40 and 60, and then to 60 and 80 ... They will pass many many years before you do, and then you'd be left by yourself in your retirement years.
(That being said, I've always felt like I could connect with older people, especially women, a lot more than I ever could with people my age. Most people I've met in real life who are my age (late teens, early twenties) are absolute dicks and I can't relate to them at all.) |

I think age stops mattering once you're over around 25
I feel if you're brain is still developing and you get into a relationship with somebody a decade or more older than you there could be an uncomfortable or unhealthy dynamic. But that's a big maybe, as I know it's worked for people before That being said I do think it's kinda weird for a teenager of 18 or 19 to be dating someone wayyy older than them even though they're legally considered adults |

Yes, but I couldn't put an arbitrary number to it. Because everyone ages differently depending on a number of factors. There's also cognitive development (and decline) that need to be considered. Personally speaking, I get a bit uncomfortable if two folks in a relationship are more than a decade apart in age.

Well, yeah. I hate this and think it's completely wrong ... but what can you do? They're both in it for selfish reasons, but that's their choice and their problem to live with. I'm more talking about love, and if it's even possible to love someone whose age is drastically different to yours. |

Well it works for older ladies and younger men too. I've had a few times in bars where some old lady has bought me few drinks and taken me to the dancefloor. But since I am quite messed-up and drinking-prone individual I just see that as a nice little exercise and a free drink.

If I'm 45 and my daughter's 20 and dating a 50 year old man, that probably wouldn't sit right with me. Same with my son and a 50 year old woman.

It’d feel weird as a parent or a child if for example I was a full on adult and my mother started dating someone younger than me I’d feel weird and if I was a parent and my kid was dating someone older it’d be weird as well but I’d be okay with it as long as the relationship is healthy.

When you're exercising enough, always be hygienic and be stylish, you'd be surprised how many classmates think you're 21 or 22 when you're really 28.
