More and more people are switching to Discord anyway, so this will probably be the final nail in the coffin for Skype.

I used Skype for so long so I was really reluctant to switch, but once I finally did I realized how many issues Skype actually has that they refuse to fix.

I highly doubt that first part. Millions upon millions of people still use Skype, and Discord is generally not geared towards a lot of the people that use it.
And plus, it wouldn't be the "final nail" because, if you had read what I posted, you'd notice that they just worded the original statement really badly.

Millions upon millions of people went to toys r us but they're closing cuz people get their toys from online now, why is the number relevant? what's relevant is that people are making the switch. Skype's design isn't as good as discord and discord is way more easier and comfortable to use. The features are better and it's just better in general. How is it not geared towards people that use it? That's a really redundant statement, not tryna be a dick i just dont understand how that makes much sense since it doesn't have only one specific usage... It's not just for gamers, you could argue it's for fanbases aswell, it could absolutely be used for business, easy to use text features and easy to join group voice channels make it perfect for that. Skype will exist for a while still but more and more people are realizing Discord's superiority and Discord is to Skype as Netflix was to Blockbuster. It's only a matter of time.

Maybe I'm missing some aspect of Discord that allows this, and if so feel free to ignore this; but if not, then there's one key difference.

Skype allows video calls, Discord doesn't. Discord is good for those voice chat groups for gamers and maybe business conference calls. But Skype's video call feature is still going to be a major appeal for people in long-distance relationships, families that have loved ones oversees, or just generally people split up and unable to see each other as often. It allows a certain sense of intimacy to see that loved one you may not get to see otherwise for long periods of time. You can't really replicate seeing that smiling face of your mother while you're off at college, or spouse who's away in the military with just a voice chat. Until Discord adds video calls, they can't ever replace Skype.

There is group video calling on Discord, but it is limited to small groups. (About ten or so people)
I personally doubt that they'd increase it, if only because that is what servers are for. And I personally doubt that they'll add video calling to servers as well, so... :/

Considering some servers have hundreds of people, I highly doubt they'll ever add video calling to servers, unless they limit it to only the small ones.
Would be nice to have them allow a few more people for groups but like you said that's unlikely.

Ah well then. Still, kinda sounds like Skype might have the better system then?
