Let’s start off with the presentation. The voice acting is alright, but the visuals are worse than Foodfight. On one hand, Foodfight didn’t have many character expressions, but... sometimes that’s for the best. The music in the background is ok. One thing that bothered me was the framerate. Sometimes it was ok, but sometimes it was awful. I noticed that there was some recycled footage too. Oh yeah and the sound editing is Sonic Adventure 2 tier.
Now... the story. Leo the Lion is a vegetarian. This isn’t relevant in any way, but it’s shoved in our face so much that it’s worth mentioning. He goes to learn how to hunt with his mother, but she’s incompetent and drowns. This made Leo scared of water for the majority of the movie, meaning he’s obviously going to get over that fear later. Before she died, his mother told him about the “Heart of the Jungle,” a place in the jungle where he could be safe. Leo gets bullied for being a vegetarian and runs off. He meets Uncle Ope (probably his name, I forgot) who looks just as malnourished as half the character models in this movie. They become friends and want to find the Heart of the Jungle. Leo meets an elephant about to give birth. When she does, we learn that her husband got taken to a zoo. Leo then leaves to find a doctor (a bit late if you ask me) to help the elephant. Suddenly the jungle is on fire, the elephant children are following Leo. So to get to safety, Uncle Ope suggests escaping the jungle to go... into the heart of the jungle. So they go into the desert to go to the heart of the jungle?
They later meet a zebra, a cheetah and a monkey. These characters do nothing to advance the plot. Oh yeah I forgot to mention this movie has a villain. He kinda just goes around being a jerk to people, but was promised marriage if he brought the elephant children back. Oh and he has a musical number. There are like 6 or 7 of these. Incuding one where the elephants are searching for the kids and slow down to... dance for a while? I can’t tell.
I should talk about the humor in this movie.
I got nothing.
Oh yeah and there’s this scene where a zebra gets forced to feed the children where I learned zebras have udders. Some other stuff happens but nobody cares.
So they make it to the heart of the jungle... which is an oasis... in a desert.
They meet a chameleon who guards the place and she tells Leo that “the heart of the jungle was inside him the whole time” but also wasn’t and is an actual place. The bad elephant arrives to take the children home where Uncle Ope (who was “““““comic relief””””” this whole time) gets tossed into a rock and dies. Something something wedding something something court case(?) something something Lion Elephant hybrids. The End.
