Yeah, so remember when a previous Direct announced a "multiplayer action game" for Kirby on 3DS due out this holiday season? We, uh, never got any sort of follow-up on that. I'm beginning to fear it turned into Kirby Switch, so if it's not dead I'd really love to see it in... well... action. XP

The New Mario Party certainly look interesting. May or may not pick up.

Pokemon US/UM had nothing really hype inducing for me. UBs aren't really something I'm fond of and only served to help convolute the overall Pokemon story/world, so new ones aren't something I'm excited for.
GS on VC is still far more hype. I also have a ton of Celebis already so that's not much help for US/UM.

SOOO not surprised to see Lyn get announced for FE Warriors. Had a feeling she'd be playable considering how popular she is.

A little surprised to see Minecraft on 3DS though. Just hadn't ever considered it as an option for a handheld like that.

Xenoblade2 still looks kinda interesting. Nothing I'm running out to buy a Switch for, but might watch a playthrough online.

We knew Skyrim was coming for Switch, but still gotta ask, why? It's already been ported to nearly every console made in the last 2 generations. Time to let it rest and work on Elder Scrolls VI.

Octopath looks mildly interesting, will likely keep tabs on it.


Overall, nothing really hype inducing. I was probably most interested in seeing Lyn.

MARIO ODYSSEY

Nice stuff. Mario Odyssey threw me away, both Kirby games looked fun, Mario Party looks like a smart idea if it's cheap enough, etc.

Honestly kind of underwhelming but I was specifically excited for two things:

1. Both Kirby games look awesome. I might be getting a Switch sooner than I thought, since Star Allies is coming in Spring, I honestly thought that would be here by Summer at the earliest. Definitely excited for Battle Royale too, though I'm not really planning on getting it right at launch since it looks to be a more experimental title than a traditional one.

I am a bit underwhelmed compared to my hype for Planet Robobot, but considering how much Kirby stuff we've been getting over the past year it's hard for me to be super excited, especially since I thought Triple Deluxe was a bit underwhelming and skipped Rainbow Curse at the time Planet Robobot was announced. That being said though more Kirby is never a bad thing!

2. Holy crap the Switch has so much third party support. I may be speaking too soon, but man they're really stepping up their game with third parties. I was already surprised enough that LA Noire was announced for it last week, but I never would have expected Doom and Wolfenstein II to come to the system.

Mario Odyssey has me extremely hyped, but this direct didn't do anything to make me more hyped than I already was. Not sure why it was 45 minutes. Most of it was just recapping old info.

I've heard several rumors that it'll air on the 11th of January, but those are just rumors. Haven't looked too much into it.

A lot of leaks are stating it will be sometime in January but nothing is official yet. I'll update as soon as Nintendo gives out something official.

Interestingly, it does seem like press WAS told about a Direct, but if a supposedly scheduled post came out early, it might've been delayed. This more than confirms something this month, though.

Damn Kirby Star Allies looks hype. Also thank christ Pokken is getting DLC. I'm so glad this game is getting more support from the developers this time around.

I can honestly say at this point that I was wrong about most of my skepticism for the Switch and I'm so relieved that I was. If the Switch can maintain this third party momentum, keep its insane first party quality, and simultaneously release the Wii U's library to gamers that never bought a Wii U then this could potentially be Nintendo's best console in terms of its games.
