I'm considering stopping watching the news, because it seems every story i see is something horrible.

There was the shooting in Texas which to me is a totally senseless loss of life and then i saw a story about a baby girl who was killed by her adopted dad, he actually called her Satan in a nappy in a text to his husband and yet his husband left her in his care.

I despair with this world, why does there have to be so much hate, it breaks my heart :'(

I feel ya, man. Even common conversation has gotten a lot more toxic.

I feel like we are a lot less tolerant of different viewpoints in this age of the Internet. It’s sad, really. We gotta learn to love one another more

I totally agree.

I try my best to be nice to people, because i always think that it might rub off.

people are ****ed up and it's been like that since humans first emerged

the world we live in has always been cruel, though. we only notice it now because as we get older we tend to notice it more.

Every time i watch a little piece of me dies, because it makes me start to think that i must be wrong to be thinking that it's abnormal to act with such contempt for others.

all we can really do ourselves is try to make it a little better
love and acceptance can make a big difference and even if it's just making one person's life easier it's still better than nothing

JCW555's posting of Motorhead's Suicide lyrics are fitting. I also think Murder Show and Take the Blame work, given how cruelty is what gets the viewers drawn into the news networks (especially with adverts or their own problems they need people to stop focusing on).

It's not that the world is more cruel but we have a lot more exposure to it. News stations can have reporters anywhere at anytime, able to get a story and make whatever they want out of it because nobody thinks they have the time to question it. And social media.... good lord, it's gotten worse. Not because it exists, but because it allows kneejerk reactions to trigger more kneejerk reactions to trigger more kneejerk reactions to.... you get the idea. Discussions aren't helped when bombarding someone with false facts and abuse is made so easy.

There is still slavery, there is still prejudice, there is still unjustifiable horror in the world and it won't go away because it'd be too easy to not have it. Just as the world is getting more cruel, more people are fighting against that cruelty. Just as disease will deal with overpopulation, there'll be just enough people left to prevent people warring for a short while before we blow one another up again. And when we find the straw that breaks the planet's back, there'll be another species that emerges from the nuclear ash and do exactly the same, for another species to grow from their mistakes.

I think that world is what it is and it is going where it is going. But I don't believe in this we-are-doomed ideology, and that is rare for cynical and borderline nihilistic person like me. But fact of the matter is that these "horrible" things are getting more coverage in news and whatnot since they sell more issues than "good" news. It is all about the business and profits in media regardless of the platform so the tragedies tend to get highlighted more. And that is not a bad thing. It gets attention to the problems at hand and also keeps money flowing in economy.

I also debated posted Brotherhood Of Man's lyrics, but that song is somewhat well known based on YouTube views.

Cheers for that! I think Motorhead also cover cruelty in things like Poison (others' perceptions of a single person), Hump on your Back or Dead Men Tell No Tales (drug use affecting people outside of the user in certain ways), and I shan't go into their cruellest song which had me physically shudder at the content. I could go on all day about this, but I think it'd derail the thread a bit too much.

you could always do what i do and just focus on your little "bubble" of life and nothing else.

Meaning your family/closest friends (whichever, both, one. this includes internet friends) and just go about your day concerning yourself with whatever it is you feel like doing and like.

watch stupid youtube videos to make yourself laugh, play games..

you know, focus on the simpler/smaller things around you and not so much other things that stress you out, if you can manage. (I have plenty of things that stress me out and I try all day to keep my mind distracted.)

Yeah, not to mention all those riots last year over The election and sill more riots every time a bunch of thugs don't like someone' opinion.

The world has always, always been a scary and dangerous place due to conflicting and harmful ideologies, political stances, evil people and all, but it seems to have gotten... Worse in a way? Mainly here in America, I swear, it feels like there’s another mass shooting every other week. And that’s pretty ****ing scary. Have acts of violence been this frequent throughout history? What about in other countries?

Because liberals bully conservatives in US politics. And somehow when they have had it liberals cry. There is now bullying on both sides. Only difference is the other side don't play the victim they just attack, and with the modern days of internet hijack by conservatives in 2016, conservatives has gotten more momentum. And i hope that lesbian softball coach Kyle Kulinski also falls with his regressive fanbase at Drunken peasants


In general i support some stuff liberals i agree with, welfare for people who can't get work and warnings and discarding their welfare check if they refuse to take work that they want to do with help of counselor even if they refuse entirely to get out in work, free school, free health care. I just don't care about the identity victimhood culture they try to get in. So i get sort of joy when they act like they are bullied when they have been doing it for ages now in US politics
