From what I can tell, it's the same rules as looking at the sun normally: just don't look directly at the eclipse for too long. Like, maybe just a quick glimpse every minute or so.

Of course, I got a pair of eclipse glasses, so I don't need to worry about it

I just saw the total eclipse, and it was cool! It looked like a ring of white light in the sky, and everything started looking like it was night, even though it was only 2:30 in the afternoon. Streetlights started coming on, the cicadas started singing, and I could even see some stars in the sky. It lasted for a few minutes. Unfortunately my iPad's camera wasn't good enough to get a decent photo. That's my only regret.

Dude, I live in TN!! I traveled a couple hours down to Wears Valley and watched it there, got to see a few seconds of the total eclipse with my naked eye and it was one of the most profound moments I've ever experienced (:

A friend of mine said one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard about it. Said that in that moment, we all looked to the sky and forgot about our hate. Really something when you pair it with a news segment from the last eclipse in '79 where this guy said "May the shadow of the moon fall on a world at peace." I really feel like (my part of) the world was at peace then, even for a few fleeting minutes.
