This is what I said a long while back in the Random Thought Topic:
"It's okay to dislike Trump and his views - that's freedom of opinion - but isn't wanting Trump to fail as president like wanting a pilot to crash a plane the entire country is on? Now that he is our president (there's nothing we can change about that) we all have to hope he does well, because if he fails, then we all go down with him. It's okay to dislike him, but wanting him to fail us as our leader is an entirely different thing. I honestly viewed Trump as a joke during the election but now that he's my country's president, I have accepted him and I hope he does well - because if he screws up we are all in trouble." I guess I was against him before he was elected, but now that he is, I am for - just for the sake of this country.

against bc he's obnoxious, racist, loves to make sexist remarks about women, makes rash decisions, makes a bunch of unrealistic claims and promises that he hasn't kept (like any politician, although you can barely even call him one), has ****ed up priorities and he's just downright dishonest. America is even more of a joke now bc of him tbh he's such a plonker

I'm against him, but it's not like I hate him, he's not fit for Pres.
My dad, on the other hand, ho ho ho. My dad NOT a fan of Trump. I remember one time, he was watching T.V. and my dad went: "Nope, Trump, **** that, **** you"

He's an idiot who needs to get the **** off Twitter. One of if not the worst president we've had. Though it's not like either of the main 2 candidates we had this last time were particularly quality. The system of "pick the shinier of 2 turds" was bound to fail eventually. Either way, it's going to be a long 4 years and I hope that nothing happens to him as his VP is 10x worse.

This is a very sensible conclusion to come to. I wish more people thought this way. Politics has just gotten so caustic that some people quite honestly have lost all sense of civility. If you have a political opinion different from mine, I just have no option but to hate you for it. Common ground in that warped mentality ceases to exist. It's downright scary. I never cared for or about Trump. Didn't ever watch his show, but it was obvious he dies everything he does for the limelight. It truly is an addiction to him. He is a walking "no such thing as bad publicity" cliche. Unfortunately, that's a much less true statement than people think, especially when someone who thinks it is, say, the leader of the free world. Anybody who knew anything about the man should have known his presidency would have gone exactly as it has. I've yet to be surprised by anything he's said or done. I like next to none of it, but most people could see it coming a mile away. I voted third-party. There's no way I could pull the lever for either of the options, despite knowing one would eventually win. Some people call that a wasted vote, but I think it's the only way to enact change. Maybe next election more people will have the courage to do what I did, and further weaken a two party system in which "representatives" of neither part actually represent the people. The thing I think most people are missing here, is what Trump's win actually meant. I don't think the majority of Americans, were blind to what an egomaniac the man is. I don't think they were unaware of his penchant for making whatever wild, outlandish statement pops into his head, and somehow thinking it's true. And I CERTAINLY don't think the majority of America is the racist, xenophobic, homophobic cesspool that Trump's most ardent enemies accused America of being for having the temerity to vote him into office. What I DO think happened is that the forgotten, unrepresented not-rich-enough, not-poor-enough Americans over the last 16 years (yes, that's a presidency of one of the "good guys" AND a presidency of one of the "bad guys", for those of you keeping political score and not realizing I'm mocking you) have watched their wages stagnate as Wall Street and Washington got richer and richer. They watched their taxes increase as living expenses rose. They watched their health insurance costs eclipse their rent or mortgage costs, as their benefits plummeted for that money. They'd been listening to "their" politician make so many unfulfilled promises, and then excusing him/herself by telling them their life would have been so much better if "the other side" would just cooperate, that they simply stopped believing ANYONE in Washington represented them (and they're correct, by the way). "The Washington Politician" has done such a bad job these last few years, that when faced with the option of choosing yet another one of them (and no, I don't just mean his general election opponent. He won "his" party's Primary against a bunch of Washington politicians too!) and a man they already KNEW was a philandering, bombastic, pathological-lying egomaniac...but was from OUTSIDE of Washington, they made the decision to back THAT, and you know, even though I didn't vote for him, I can't blame them for it! They knew what they'd be getting with yet another Washington Politician, and they said, "Nah thanks." If that's not the biggest indictment of the representatives of BOTH of America's major parties, I don't know what is!!! America came to the conclusion that Washington does not represent them, and WILL NOT HELP THEM. Quite contrarily, Washington has proven itself ridiculously adept at doing the EXACT OPPOSITE. THAT'S why enough Americans voted for him to win him the election. They were voting against establishment, come Trump or high water. That's honestly why "resisting" Trump is counterproductive. All that does is further polarize the rest of the people and abandon any chance at finding common views. Our representatives need to realize they are obligated to do right by their constituencies, not their campaign donors and lobbyists, and the ones who stand the most to gain by our citizens "resisting" one side or another are the blood-sucking campaign donors and lobbyists. Please don't give those people even more power. Trump sure isn't worth that! |

Definitely against. Despite a reputation for playing devil's advocate and being a neutral party I swing left by a good margin and even if he was a by the numbers Republican conservative I'd be pretty staunchly against.

I'm sorry but after these few months I fail to see how. I can absolutely understand the argument of two evils and that both choices were lackluster. But a big reason why Hillary was seen as a lackluster choice is because it would be maintaining the status quo and continuing the small steps towards progress rather than the larger leaps Sanders wanted to achieve (all while not actually doing a whole lot against big corporations). But something tells me Hillary would've still tried to protect net neutrality, rather than allow it to be dismantled by someone who's been in the pocket of Verizon. |

i don't follow politics at all but my opinion on trump is i can no longer use the word 'trump' as an actual word without it being associated with the president and also people joke about him too much, like it was funny and topical for a little bit but now that's just gotten old i never find trump jokes funny anymore they're just irritating

Against him. Trump is far too insane, stupid and dangerous to run one of the superpowers of the world. I hate how he's destabilizing the future of his fellow Americans by wanting to remove affordable healthcare, basic education, work places that aren't coal-mining and general human rights. Then there's how he's always willing to lash out at anything liberal by calling everything he doesn't lie as fake news or how his rich white son was traumatised by a paper mache of Donald's head while simultaneously denying immigrant children safe access into his country and empowering ICE to kidnap their families.
Trump will lash out at African-Americans, Mexicans, Muslims, Native-Americans, women, LGBT-people and people with physical and mental disabilities but refuses to denounce Nazis, KKK, MRA, NRA, rich Muslims or Vladimir Putin. Let's also take time to remember that Trump takes time to project everything wrong about him onto others like saying how a former hippie like Hillary Clinton is a warmonger before Trump himself promised "fire and fury" on North Korea, even though they'll ready to start a war at the drop of a hat. Trump is throwing gasoline to a fire. All you're think about his But her e-mails! Wah! What about Trump's e-mails? He should have no right to them either but his approve because hate towards Hillary running for president is rooted in sexism. You could argue nepotism but remember how George Bush's son was president before Obama. Chelsea Clinton and Kamala Harris are better candidates than Ivanka Trump or her idiot brothers. People here don't like me talking about Trump and his horrible administration because I'm from Ireland but America's a superpower. If a superpower goes to war, it can effects Ireland one way or another. Recently, Trump criticised Ireland for American job loss. People in Ireland could potentially lose their jobs to people who will probably get themselves fired anyway if they're seen in Nazi marches. Trump admires Putin, who crimilised homosexuality in Russia while Ireland is one of the most LGBT-friendly countries right now. Do you think both of them will not pay attention to us? Trump and Putin both desire to destablise the European Union. Everyday, I wanted to start a new topic on Trump almost every day here and it's getting harder when living in constant fear of a madman being able to start a nuclear war at any time.

He's an ass, and listening to him for five minutes hurts your brain. Honestly, banning trans people from the army over TWITTER? Come on!

Against. Some of the **** he does is either stupid or harmful (tbh it's both). Some of his policies will never get through (like the wall) and I wouldn't be surprised if we went to war with North Korea because of this idiot (Kim Jong-un is definitely an asshole too so I guess someone has to be in the biggest dick-tator competition). Also I just do not trust business men. They are usually slimy roaches sculpted into a person. I think the only ups is keep Hillary from putting her slimy tactics into action, but still.
Actually if we go to war under his presidency I am voting for someone actually better instead of wondering where the **** I put my voting ballot.

By the looks of things, he's certainly not a good sign for many, but one thing is for sure, his presidency completely changes the rules of the game. You can see by the controversy surrounding his election and the spike in radicalism and rioting throughout the US that there's a good chance it's a foreshadowing of some greater scheme being set in motion. And in situations like these, you'll find people growing more and more disillusioned with the choices they're given, until after a rude awakening they figure out that sticking it to the man just by voting for him isn't gonna work, and there's no other choice left but to take matters into their own hands and push the opposition into a direction that actually adapts to the changing times and puts the people before bombs and elites.

I don't care enough about politics to have any feelings towards him. Though from what I've seen, he comes across as an asshole, but he seems to always speak what's on his mind, so he seems to be a little more honest than most politicians. I'm Canadian, I don't feel the need to care how America is being run.
