Title say it all. Nearly all anime characters look white AF, despite being Japanese, at least by nationality.

Some exceptions being Pit, Link, and Cloud. Pit is clearly white af, Link is an Elf and Cloud seems to have a mixture of Asian and Caucasian features. Not to mention all 3 are video game characters and likely designed with e Western Audience in mind.

But then we see Midorya, from MHA and and the black-green hair bastard looks white AF. in fact, everyone in MHA looks white af. Is Japan full of white supremacists?

Also there's the entire thing of big eyes to help expression, might help giving that impression.

Not every anime is set in Japan. Fullmetal Alchemist is set in a fictitious version of Germany, most of the Attack on Titan cast is German too. Code Geass features a cast that's half Japanese with the other half being (and the protag) basically British. Some such as One Piece are set in an entirely different world to the point of Japan not existing.

I don't know the exact answer to this, but I'm going to assume it's more along the lines of just how characters are designed in some. Anime has always had odd hair colors that aren't always natural, it keeps things somewhat interesting overall and not always necessarily a bad thing. It's just an artistic choice and has nothing to do with their race. Anime isn't the only thing to have unnatural hair colors sometimes. As for the skin color, yeah... Japan can be a little racist. From what I've heard, they don't entirely like black people that much. I wouldn't say white supremacist though, more just using those color tones for both white and asian people. How would you prefer them to look?

I've also heard that the big eyes have to do with some old thing regarding the eyes being the window to the soul, so it involves being more expressive or something like that.

Yeah, jokes aside, it's likely just Artistic Liberties with also a little bit of western influenced design wise added in for International appeal.

I mean they're assumed to be japanese for the same reason the simpsons are assumed to be american. Like, the simpsons have yellow skin, blue hair the height of a person and perfectly round eyes but they're still assumed to be white americans because it's set in america.

Anime is made by japanese people for a primarily japanese audience so they kinda just figure that the character being japanese is generally assumed, so they don't really need to bother adding any visual cues. A japanese person would just assume the character is japanese by default, the only reason u think they look "white" is cause... you're white. and not really the target audience.

Ironically, Asian people are white while American people are yellow on the show.

so they can have fun and interesting designs instead of being stuck within the confines of having to give them japanese traits lmao it doesn't really matter

idk your eyes see white japs see it as Asian. I know when I was like 5 I thought I looked white and made my self inserts have distinct white characteristics so maybe the japs see themselves as what they draw. Also usually the cartoony art style animes like my hero have simple facial features while shows like Yuri on ice it is clearly visible on who is Asian or not
