what ****ing time period does this movie take place in?

The Nut Job that is.

Like the clothing and the hairstyles make me feel like it takes place in the 30s (maybe early 40s)

but there are so many modern pop culture references (even a cgi gangdam style dance scene in the credits) that im legit confused about what time period this movie takes place in.

all i know is that there's a purple squirrel who steals a nut store and some pug?????

the french bulldog in the sequel is horribly rendered

Apparently, it's a American, Canadian, Korean Production, and everyone knows how goddamn stupid those Canadians are.
