Iirc, the whole gay is evil translation also comes from the Leviticus, which also introduces a lot of weird dated rules that no one follows anyway. I THINK. No one close by really pays attention to that for me to ask.

The translations really can go all over the place, but then you really want to check a site with people who study it and discuss it, and not in the "prove myself right" way, the "oh wow look at this cool history of etimology" way.

Either way, youtube comments. It can be a cute couple, cute kittiens, cute doggos, and you'll still have people saying stupid **** and fighting over nothing.

Unfortunately, a more accurate translation of the Bible means nothing to the most hardcore Bible thumpers. The King James version of the Bible is in many circles regarded as a higher authority than even the original Hebrew and Greek texts.

disclaimer: im not against the LBGT community, im really just a curious about the legitimacy of the comments claim.

the original verse is written in Hebrew in Vayikra (Leviticus) chapter 18v22 like this:
וְאֶת-זָכָר--לֹא תִשְׁכַּב, מִשְׁכְּבֵי אִשָּׁה: תּוֹעֵבָה, הִוא
The word used for "man" there is זכר which literally means "male". if it was going to be for a child it would use either ילד "Boy" or נער "youth". Hebrew has very specific words in this instance and by using the generic term for male, it includes all men regardless of age.
Similarly when the law is repeated in Vayikra Chapter 20:13
וְאִישׁ, אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁכַּב אֶת-זָכָר מִשְׁכְּבֵי אִשָּׁה--תּוֹעֵבָה עָשׂוּ, שְׁנֵיהֶם; מוֹת יוּמָתוּ, דְּמֵיהֶם בָּם.
The word used for man is איש which is a generic term for "man" sleeping with a זכר , which as discussed above is just the term for male irrespective of age.

a lot of things in the bible are outdated, like you cant wear certain kinds of clothing.

i don't really see it as that. being gay isnt the norm and people generally don't like change; so they use the bible as more of a security blanket so they don't actually have to confront the change.

Beautiful film, and I can see why it's popular. Though I didn't fully grasp my sexuality in college, I see myself a lot in this flick with the nervousness of asking someone out.

As for the comments, they're ridiculous but sadly whenever it comes to LGBT content on YouTube you'll get this drama, and it will be until people find another stupid reason to hate other human beings. Be safe in the mind that these people are weak, that most of the homophobes wouldn't so much as dare mutter this in the public space. If they would, they wouldn't spend their time on a platform where comments alone don't get much attention. It's still **** that they have these views, but I doubt we can change their minds through YouTube comments.
