Yep, it has. I'd say sometime after the whole
Cluster arc getting resolved so fast and easily. To me, that marks the turning point because I feel like a lot of interesting plotamajigs since then have been ignored or rushed to resolve in the same way, namely Bismuth and how quickly Steven and Greg got back from the zoo. And it's just stupid and unrealistic how the CGs have barely mentioned the Cluster since or shown worry or apprehension about it. It feels like it was built up for like a whole season and then they just tossed it away!

Oh yeah and that's pretty much where the character development stopped. I mean, Lapis got a bit afterwards but we've barely seen her and it feels like she's shoved in, and I feel like Peridot's actually become super Flanderised, and both are totally irrelevant now.


Don't get me wrong, I don't want them spending seasons on all the plot threads or something, but it feels like they're nothing when they're over this quick and resolved as easily as they are. This show keeps darting in and out of developing its plot and devoting time to filler now, they rarely tie together, and the filler episodes lately haven't had good development for any of the CGs. It sucks.

Which is a shame, because it's still a good show with some wonderful ideas. I just feel like this show isn't building up anything any more and the interesting character development for the main characters is done. I can't help but feel a lot of it is rushed these days and there are too many unexplored ideas it keeps tossing at us and leaving behind and I don't understand why. It doesn't feel like it's building up those ideas purposefully, it feels like they're just there and forgotten... In other words, it doesn't feel like this show's story is as carefully planned as it should be.

Also yeah the animation really has gone downhill.

With all that said, I thought the last bomb was good, since it had a filler episode that was entertaining in its own right but ended with a meaningful cliffhanger the rest of the bomb followed up on.
And Aquamarine was a riot.


I'm just worried the whole twist at the end of the bomb will get resolved in the second or third episode of the next season or something... When major problems all get resolved that fast and new characters are introduced and disappear that fast, so often, they seriously just lose their impact and feel... Monster-of-the-week-ish.

TL ; DR It's still good but peaked with Season 2, where all the character developments were coming to a crux and were more major and meaningful, and it had a lot less unused ideas and unresolved/rushed/pointless plot threads hanging around.



I have to agree. For me it went downhill since the Malachite arc ended becuase it has been focusing less on the main 6 gems. We still need Pearl's & Amethyst's backstories, more on Lapis and practically everything on Jasper. I always loved how it focused on the characters but now they're basically irrelevant and have no development whatsoever.

It looks like they get back to earth somehow. Or it's an already existing Kindergarden on Homeworld.
AND YELLOW DIAMOND HAS LIGHTNING POWERS!!1!!1!


Btw, I'm thinking of making a win/loss ratio chart for each character that's been in three or more fights. Not going to count stuff like training sessions and the incredibly one-sided Crystal Gems vs Ronaldo fight.

Sorry for the double post, but I did the math and the results on the win percentages for the characters who have been in at least 3 fights are as follows (spoilers):
Topaz: 100% (too early to truly judge her power, but she's fought 3 times already)
Garnet: 66.66% (of course her win rate is impressive. Just ignore the time she got pummeled by a waffle)
Steven: 52.63% (protagonist powers or something)
Pearl and Lapis: 50% (We don't see Lapis fight much)
Peridot: 42.86% (Again, didn't fight much. Although she did stab Jasper with a metal rod)
Amethyst: 42.11% (A lot of her losses were in Reformed)
Jasper: 37.50% (With the exception of getting stabbed by Peridot, IT'S ALWAYS FUSION!)
Connie: 33.33% (You would think it would be higher, but nope. Worst win rate out of everyone. The two fights she did win, Steven was there too.)

I count fusions as separate characters.

I actually think that White has fire, since Rose's training machine in Lion 2 had only three elements and she probably already shattered Pink so she would just take the elements of Yellow, Blue & White. I think Pink had something with earth or nature, since Rose is also associated with that and the Earth did belong to her.

But not inconsequential, at least for Lars... I hope the CGs aren't going basically right back to the status quo AGAIN though, I'm really tired of this show doing that... I think they'll go back to homeworld for Lars eventually but they could just as easily just rescue him whenever they finally face the Diamonds there or whatever...

I mean this was a clever way to get Steven back home but I'm just tired of this kinda thing happening. It really cheapens the show. tbh at this point I'm just still in it to see how it ends, not that into it anymore.

Welp. That happened.
That twist in the Trial was both amazing and terrible. Amazing because I never would have guessed (although I need answers as to why) and terrible because it shows how much of a Mary Sue Rose is. All her intentions so far have been practically flawless. Shattering Pink Diamond? That wasn't her. Oh, and lets add resurrection and warp creating to her list of powers. Seriously, when Lars died (sorry, wasn't in this life) he got resurrected in like 30 seconds. NOTHING HAS ANY CONSEQUENCE!!!
They just needed a way for Steven to get home and for Lars to be alive.

Is anyone planning on getting the game?
I'm not really interested because I'm not really into these kind of games.. I like the new gems though.

But yeah, what is everyone's thoughts on, well, SU critical? I hate that term, but honestly I really agree with it on most things. I remember having a rant, I guess, to Drawdler a year or two ago about the state of the show and how we were both unhappy with how it was going. Heh. What are you thoughts, guys?
