I know you may be referring to AMVs when saying cringy but I know how a lot of people like to give LP that label because of those first two albums and the big hits off it.
If you have the time I'd definitely recommend listening to some of their more recent works, specifically A Thousand Suns and Living Things. It shows them to be more than just edgelord music like a lot of people make them out to be, and rather an experimental group that went as far as to make electronic political rock.
One More Light, their last album, is also experimental and very different from what is expected from LP. Though it's with more of a pop-oriented sound, which led many older fans to call them sellouts. Chester really hated that sentiment. Some tracks off it also have a much colder meaning now that today's events occurred.
AMV searching made me find things faaaar edgier than LP, like literally put fanfic themes on lyrics edgy. I only listen to a few songs from them since I'm picky towards some genres now that I listened to them one too many times when younger, but once I understood that they had a purpose, there was no reason to look down on them.
Darn, now I feel like looking for that one really good AMV for Legend of Spyro that I'd watch tons.
Edit: aww, I think it's been deleted. It was a 7+ year old video with the Encore Remix of Numb, and the guy actually put effort into timing. The DMCA purge hit the community way too hard.
