Okay, so before I start, message to the moderators: YES, I do realize that this may be more worthy to be in the Fan Art section, but I wanted to post it to general, just because FaithSDK's model is a good model as a starting point for a remaster (even though I don't trust one to come from Activision, but that's beside the point).

LOOK HOW FAITHFUL IT IS TO THE ORIGINAL SPYRO!!!!!









I'll say this: maybe just slight tweaking of this guy, and remaster good to go(?). This is the Spyro we should've gotten a decade ago.

But I've shared my thoughts on the channel, and I'll re-go over them here, elaborate, and expand on my thoughts.



Watching this is pretty good. The animation is fluid and feels very smooth. But the eyes could be animated, to be expressive an less dead and cold. Wings are also a problem that many people share and I agree.

Some times the model feels spot on, like with the Spyro 2 example, other times it falls short. The hybrid model that is the first model I shared is something I feel like I could get used to and enjoy. It's slowly growing on me. The teeth looks a little bit scary tho. That and the horns feel a little off when compared to the original,

Sorry for the pessimistic attitude. I don't mean to hate on anyone that likes his character design, but it weird me out how chibi he looks. It's like if they took the design of a Nenodroid figure but forgot what the original character looked like.

Oh, I don't mind at all. The chibi-ness is worse in the japenese cover art lol. But yeah, the design does lend itself some problems that I understand and would take time to work out the right way.

I disagree. The big eyes/head is very off-putting and reminds me of a Nenodroid Vinyl figurine. I don't know what I'd do to fix it, but it's one of those things that doesn't age well when made hi-poly.

There are depictions of him that are actually pretty damn fierce or just straight-up from-the-hood like, though. Personally, I like it when he looks fierce, but I also like it when he has a majestic stature. There's only one depiction I've seen that actually nails down a majestic stature, even if the anatomy of the depiction isn't perfect...but that's okay, because it seems like it was purposefully so.

Still, though, while sliiiiiiggghtllyyyy derpy, it's probably the best fan model we've gotten of the dragon so far.

I have no idea where you're seeing any of that. You're describing something else entirely, because this is a goofy reptile with a bunch of dog features and really weird eyes and flat belly.

I will agree with DS D on this tho, its the best Spyro fan model we got at this point, I mean, where can you find a better model? Its not perfect by any means, and could use improvements, yeah.

I still prefer some of the fan LOS ones(now don't ask me which, I never bother with usernames while looking at some). This feels like it's just a prettied up version of the old model with some extra stuff thrown in; I'd rather see something updated on its own even if keeping the Classic design. Something "majestic" to me would have nicer eyes, make the teeth less blocky, scales and paw pads that look seamless.

Pretty neat! This is the first fan model I've seen that I really like. He needs to blink in his animations though. Looks great in pictures, but that video really showed off how unnerving it is when he doesn't blink.

I think there are two important points to consider-

1.) Is this a good starting point for a possible remaster to take reference from and improve upon?
2.) Is this a better model than the Enter the Dragonfly model?

One person has arguably done better than a whole team of people. Very authentic but still looks modern. There will only get better and better, as will the texturing/skin.

It's nice, but I don't think I'd want that kind of a model on a PS4 or Xbone game. It seems... dated in its overall structure.

Besides that, it's good, but something about it seems a little cheap... Maybe because it isn't stylised enough, particularly around the eyes. I mean the model is nice, but it's a little off-putting with the shading and texture.

I was thinking this too.
The wings are a bit too large and the face looks off in places.

But if you guys want a positive thing I thought... They got the colors pretty spot on.

They made Ember cute tho, so that's good, I always thought she was cute...

I agree at this point I think Spyro would be better off gay and with Flame , the Ember and Cynder wars need to stop

Faiths Reignited Spyro is better than the actual thing.

Even ignoring potentially inaccurate details this is just a really well done model. Makes me want to give Spyro a spin when I get better at 3D.
