A story about a Penguin and anime

An anime that did really bad in America that was about animals that weren't animals they were moes (so cheetah, tiger, giraffe, etc) teamed up with a Japanese Zoo (because it was popular in Japan) for promotional reasons and put cardboard cut outs with the animals that the moe waifus were based off of.
Most of the animals didn't like the cardboard cut outs, but one penguin named Grape-Kun actually fell in love with the penguin one and would stare at her for hours upon hours and even cuddle up to it.

So much that fans drew fan art of the two of them!

Sadly a darker side exists to this story, the penguin neglected eating to stare at his waifu and the Zoo could not have the poor penguin starve for such a reason so they had to wall off Grape-kun from his waifu.

After they brought him back to optimal health they let him have visiting hours to spend with his waifu after they know he has eaten. So this little penguin can have his love story and not starve to death.
