I didn't even like the other presidential canidate(Clinton), I was hoping for Sanders to win, because free college sounded cool to me.

Remember that Trump kept saying how bad it is to declare war on Syria, saying Hillary doing it would cause World War III, saying he wouldn't intervene... and he does it anyway.

I'm not 100% sure as i got my info from different sources so take t with a grain of salt.
Apprently Syria used bioweapons or gasses or something of the kind on the rebels in syria and it killed a lot of people. Syria isn't supposed to have or use these weapons. Thus, Trump retaliated by bombing something, a base I believe.

I don't about you, but that isn't okay. While I don't condone violence, I do conde the safety of people especially those who didn't get a chance at life. They were innocent and they did not get a choice.

I don't care if you think if bombing them is morally wrong, letting children die like that is thousands of times worse.

Yeah, but did bombing that specific place do **** to them? Genuine question actually. Throwing a bunch of missiles in a place to prove a point rather than specific targets is done a lot but not with a lot of results.

While I don't essentially disapprove of the bombing, I disapprove of the fact that he did say that one should get Congress approval before bombing back when Obama was in office, yet he did the exact thing he said not to do.

While the reasoning for this attack seems decent as a retaliation against the use of chemical weapons against innocents, I'm not sure if this will actually make any positive difference.

Okay....There's a lot of misinformation here.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a fan of Trump in any way, shape, or form. Therefore, you'll know that in no way am I trying to defend him when I make this next statement:

Yes, it was unwise of him to act without Congressional approval, but if Obama was still in office he'd likely do the same. And here's why:

First of all, there's been strife in Syria for decades. During the War in Iraq, the Bush administration also considered military action against Syria, and passed these suspicions on to the Obama administration. Then in 2011, the Syrian Civil War started, and the Obama administration wanted to intervene, but indirectly. So instead of deploying conventional troops en masse, Obama ordered the CIA and some units of USSOCOM to train and equip the Syrian rebels (probably not a good idea - the Reagan administration did the same thing in the 80s for the Mujahideen in Afghanistan, and look how that turned out). Some of you have mentioned the drone strikes and precision bombing in Syria under Obama, but that's mostly unrelated: those primarily targeted ISIS and other militant groups who just happened to be on Syrian soil, not the Syrian government.

However, in 2012, we learned that the Assad regime was using chemical weapons on civilians. At this point, Obama said screw it, we're hitting them ourselves. Being the diplomat he is, he went to Congress multiple times for approval and was denied every time. We were running out of options.

Finally, in 2013, we made a deal with Russia: they ensure that Assad gets rid of the chemical weapons, and in return, we don't blast his regime into oblivion. Shortly afterward, we were informed that the chemical weapons were indeed gone, and Secretary of State John Kerry made an official statement saying so. For a while, we believed that Russia and the Assad regime kept their word.

However, the recent attacks proved otherwise. Russia didn't hold up their end of the deal, the deal that Obama made, so Trump decided to act. Hopefully, the Assad regime (and by extension, Russia) will take this as a warning rather than an act of war.

This pot was brewing long before Trump was in the picture. Before Obama and hell, probably even before Bush. For quite some time, U.S. intervention in Syria has not been an "if," it has been a "when." And it seems that when is now.

Oh, and to answer your question about targeting, the missiles hit the Syrian Air Force base that launched the chemical attack. At least six people were killed, and there are unconfirmed reports that one of them was a general.

So yeah, it was a pretty important target.
