Which is better and why?
Dubs are better because I'm not a fan of reading subtitles and prefer a language I know.

Typically, I prefer to watch something and enjoy it rather than needing to read subtitles to follow what's being said.
That said, there are exceptions to that and some things that I prefer to watch with subtitles over the dub as the dub just isn't good.

^ That reminds me, a lot OG acting can get exaggerated, especially in Japanese animes. Zelda's English VA in BoTW is much better than the already good Jap version, it's just that the latter feels a bit over the top.

Dubs, though only because I can't properly focus on what's happening while I'm reading, and I always end up missing something.

Dubs only for me. I don't watch an anime unless it has a decent dub.

Dubs. Trying to read text while stuff happens on the screen is annoying for me.

I cannot stand dubs. I've tried watching them for even my top favorite animes, and they are simply unbearable, cringey, and overall nothing in it is as good as the Japanese version. Everything about dubs are terrible and they are one of the things I despise most in all existence.
I will never watch a dub, under any circumstances. Subs are so much better.

I watch dubs because I'm not a particularly fast reader and usually I watch anime that's meant to be or is well story-oriented. I don't like missing anything and I generally have to pause every two seconds just to get everything being said.
On the note of which I find better in opinion and which is more pleasing to my ears, I'm not really picky, I don't usually find the English VAs annoying or unfitting of a character, I'm easy to satisfy in those regards. And I don't really do any comparisons at all of "what's better" and almost never watch subbed versions of the dubs I watch. I'm not a critic and not watching anime to have a critical opinion on it anyways, I'm just watching it to enjoy it, and if I already enjoy it then I don't need to think of comparisons or worry about those sort of things. Even if people tend to tell me "that Japanese voice is better that English". I'm just really easy to please.

Subs. Even when the audio sounds good on English. Just preferred it that way.
I even turn on subs for English stuff. But that's just to help me in case I missed something they said. |

Both. Really depends. I generally prefer dubs, but sometimes subtitles. The only shows I watch with subtitles are Steven Universe (takes too much to release here) and Skylanders Academy (don't like the Portuguese dub).

Subs cause half the shows I watch don't even have dubs. Also I'm a fast reader so I've never really minded subtitles. And anime dubs generally aren't good...
Video games I usually do go with the dub if there's an option tho, cause video game dubs are usually pretty decent.

Err... umm... I'm in America, so I watch any western animation projects in, well, English. And I don't watch much anime. But on the rare instance I do I'll try to watch both to compare... especially if it's a series that got cuts/censored stuff when it was exported to the West. <.<;

It's too hard to read and watch what's going on at the same time tbh. And there's also the fact that if I look away for a sec I have to rewind the entire scene because I have no idea what's going on just by listening.

I'v noticed that while watching animes with subtitles that go by way to fast for any normal human to read that I am subconsciously reading the text while watching the actual anime.

I'm super minority in that I can watch and read subs at the same time, but for me it really depends on the show. Some have great english voice acting, some don't, some are ok but don't fit(OPM :c ), but I usually go for dubs if I'm late enough to the show.
Oh, and BR-portuguese voice acting? Imagine if every voice actor was a variation of Yuri Lowhental for their archetype. Yeah no never looking back.

I meant more on this thread, though IRL I'm some minority since local theatres had to cut down on subbed films because people say it's too hard to watch and read.

Yup. If it's an animated movie, even worse. Gotta wait on Lego Batman because nowhere in my city has subbed. Wasn't this way a few years ago, but people were getting really whiny about the sheer presence of subs for their children later at night.

Dubs i´m not a fan of subs, especially if there TALKING WHILE AN ACTION SCENE HAPPENS! And i´m lazy to read and watch stuff at the same time.
