Welcome to the official topic for ARMS- the weird boxing game where everybody's arms are very long!

In this game, you beat people up with your long-ass arms. You can equip new ARMS ends to change your abilities.

There's a "Grand Prix" story mode, where you take on the entire roster until you fight the final boss. this boss differs based on difficulty.

With free dlc, a multitude of modes, and some good waifu material, i'd say ARMS has legs too!

In January of 2019, an ARMS graphic novel series will be released by Dark Horse Comics. A preview of the first issue was released in a Legend Of Korra comic available on free comic book day. more information will be gathered as we find it.

It's literally just JoJo Punch Out! It's the best thing ever!

I love everything about it.

I don't know if this is gonna be as big a game as Nintendo hopes it will be, but it does actually look pretty fun.

Plus I'm glad there's more character than punchy dude and ribbon girl.

This game looks pretty fun. If Nintendo knows how to do it, it might have it's competitive scene, like Splatoon.

Yeah, you can never tell what's going to wind up being big and what'll be a bargain bin.

I'll bet a lot of people thought Splatoon was going to be bargain bin as well and yet that turned out to be one of the best selling games on the Wii U (which I know isn't really saying much, but... Did well enough to warrant a sequel).

Yeah, exactly! Arms probably won't be as big as Splatoon, but it clearly has its fanbase already.

Also, I was more referring to the comment about the lack of content. You actually don't know that. The game is not out yet.

That aside, I'm glad I'm not the only fan of this game. It doesn't look like it'll keep my attention for long and it's probably on the lower end of hype for Switch games I plan to buy, but I'm gonna give it a shot. I like the designs a lot and the use of JoyCons is gimmicky but seems amusing to me. I'm seeing mixed reactions to the designs and I'm sure a lot of people won't like the controls, so I don't think it'll take off, but count me as a fan.

And that's why you can use the Pro Controller with the game. Nintendo is smarter than people give them credit for.

Granted, I'll be playing the game the way it was meant to be played, because it honestly looks super fun to pretend punch your opponent.

Looks interesting. Not a huge fan of the fact that it was developed around motion-controls, but eh. I might pick it up.

One of my hopes for this game is that there are more than the five characters we've seen so far for the game in the Treehouse demo. That and there is some sort of campaign mode. I'm betting there will be at least the former, since fighting games are usually about versatility and choosing a fighter that clicks with you.

I guess literally clicks with you in this case since it's the Switch.

ReviewTechUSA wasn't so hype for this, though. He literally cussed Nintendo out and dicked them off, saying that they should've known to stop doing this after the Wii died in popularity.

My reasoning comes down to it looking quite heavily like a Wii Boxing game, and also giving me some flashbacks of Pokken in presentation style. It seems it'll have a good set of fighters but I just don't imagine it having some big story mode or any tangible community or following like other fighting games. I imagine the vast majority of the marketing and appeal will come from the controls and core gameplay, but when time comes it'll probably not garner much more than a 75 on Metacritic.

Splatoon seemed a lot more tangible and ready to have a dedicated online presence as Nintendo's first real shooter (first or third person). And while we didn't know right away about the story mode, it was already easy to tell from the variety of weapons and reliance on online there was going to be a lot to it. Enough to where even though it's not a big thing, it has a competitive side where people were able to figure out a meta with all the weapons and clothing.

Arms on the other hand doesn't look like it'll have that much. It's not going to have a meta like other fighting games, because it relies far more on physical ability than the character itself. It looks like it's a tech demo for the new controllers than anything.

I would like to be wrong, and the game looks fun (I love Wii Boxing), but that's just my prediction and thoughts.

Can anyone validate this random Tumblr post's validity?

Basically the person is saying that the motion controls will be optional and that you can use a more traditional control style if you want. If that's true, then I guess this is good for people who'd rather play one way or another. I have a feeling most people will play it traditionally though.

Like I said though it is just some random guy on Tumblr, so can anyone confirm or deny this?

Doubt this will be as big as Smash, but if fate is in it's favor I can see it having it's own community. Especially if Nintendo continues to support it after release with DLC and stuff.

I've seen similar art Style, (splatoon, overwatch a bit) and I like it.

Treehouse gameplay:



A interesting mechanic is that you can choose different gloves for each hand before battle. Each one works differently, so the players have to create strategies for each combination. Each character has its own gloves, 3 per character, as of now.

Arms can be chosen by the players as a Player's Choice game at EVO 2017. So yeah, you can do a donation here to make this game have a official professional tournament.

So yeah, there's going to be more characters and more modes than just what little we've seen, which personally makes me happy.

The direct today confirmed a TON of stuff-

New fighter, Min Min! Her arms are made of ramen noodles, and she uses kicks and jumps to carefully time her attacks.

A side mode where you can punch targets, to get new gloves for your fighters.

Online 2v2 matches

Release date- June 16th!
