At the beginning of 2016 I began an experiment, where I would tally up every trend that occurred in S&N throughout the year, as a fun little tidbit on all the trends that have happened through the year.

This lasted up until halfway through before I lost track and inevitably decided I had better ways to spend my time than dig around this place, checking each and every thread to find who the OP was. Though it might not matter quite as much, since to what I've observed, trends slowed to an absolute crawl during the second half of the year.

What constitutes a trend?
For my purposes, a trend is when there are at least three topics all in similar fashion made in relatively fast succession to each other (within 24 hours of the first).

So without further ado, here are the trends of the first half of 2016, up until early July.

I'll do this again for the entire year of 2017 if there's enough interest in it. Though if I do, I may need a helper.

I fairly remember of some of the more recent stuff, like "Man I hate [insert OP name]", "Did you know that..." and "If you could protect", but I see you didn't kept up with time. Maybe other users can help with more recent trends, dunno.
