Perhaps, I came off a bit rude. If you say Merry Christmas and you KNOW they celebrate it, then its fine, 100% so, even. If you don't know if they do, I still believe it comes off as ignorant, not stupidly. Maybe more naive? I'm not sure what the best word is when it comes to describing how I feel, as always. I know they mean well and are being nice, I just prefer Happy Holidays, as Waaksian said is more inclusive and gives of a feeling of "one world", if you know what I mean.


I have noticed it tends to be people who are 40-50 and up who say it while younger people say Happy Holidays. Shows a difference in generations, kinda funny.

i remember when schools were allowed to say "merry christmas" to students so all of my 8th grade teachers said it all the time.

I usually said Merry Christmas but for some reason this year I have a habit of saying Happy Holidays.

I'd just rather not get someone pissy at me because they don't celebrate it.

Christmas in my country is pretty religious, so I do feel like making the distinction. We even had some live tv personality stop everything about christmas news to say "don't forget to tell your kids jesus' birthday is tomorrow" like wtf what happened to gathering family and celebrating peace

The majority of people here have the same religion, so people just say Christmas. I myself don't care for what the hell they say, as long as the intention is good.

At least to what I can tell America acknowledges Christmas as being a Christian holiday, but largely becomes more of a cultural thing about gift giving, likely because of all the corporate advertising that has a lot more to gain from selling products than celebrating Jesus. Every now and then you have someone who tries to remind you it's a Christian holiday, but it's sort of bypassed in favor of the festive attitude that comes with it.

Mind you of course that America is a big country that's full of diversity and my perspective is that of someone living in one of the more liberal and diverse regions. I'm willing to wager down south in the Bible Belt Jesus takes a much more prominent role.

Apparently when I was a very small kid on Christmas I cried because I got books as well as toys and I only wanted toys.

I have no memory of this and wouldn't have known if my father didn't tell me, and yet I feel horrible for it.

I'm not really the type who wants clothes as a gift, unless it's something with a weird pattern or just wacky. I cosplay Kimmy Gibbler every day and I barely notice it.

It's kind of the same at least down in the part of Texas I'm from as well as where I go to school in Florida. It's known to be a Christian holiday, but it's overall lost that meaning to be a celebration about exchanging gifts. Angel based decorations are common enough but that's really it.

Lemons aren't a deep web thing. Like what Bifrost said, you can easily find them on fanfiction.net. You'll see plenty with "lemon" or "extreme lemon" in the description if you set the age group to 18+.

Deep web is known more for websites hosting illegal practices. But lemons are simply smut. There's plenty of explicit art on deviantArt, and that's just the art version of lemon fanfics. So no, sexual fanart/fanfics don't come from deep web.


(Edited out the last sentence because you don't necessarily have to be "sweaty and horny" to be writing sexual themes (but there's nothing wrong with that in itself). Some people just find it interesting. I myself find the emotional and social aspects of that kind of thing fascinating.)

I was exaggerating about the deep web thing, but I know some people who go on the deep web all the time. They said there are about 20 people selling food such as carrots or pretzels, like literal. I'll assure you, there are almost solidly lemons down there (why am I talking like it's underground?) from what I've heard about fanfics down there.
