Raul had began to notice the change in behavior in Sayan, observing passively at first. He seemed merely confused or distracted at first, but it grew greater as time passed and soon there was a noticeable difference in his behavior. Raul couldn't just ignore this fact. He was concerned for the safety of his new friend, concerned for his well being. His mood shifted so quickly, and he was very quickly in what seemed to be another mindset. "Are you alright? Sayan? Is something the matter?"

Harland bound up to the group, though his eyes were constantly set on the shadows in the background, in what might have been. "Sorry about that," Harland began to apologize, realizing him, usually a speedy fellow, had lulled behind a trifle. He stopped in his own words when he noticed Sayan, locked still in place. "Hey, what are we doing?" He inquired, tilting his head. "Is there trouble?" He shifted his feet a little, hooves pushing the dirt underfoot out of place. "This place is really dark. It seems almost unnatural."

Raul shook his head. "Rationalize. There must be a logical reason for it." He tilted his head. "Sayan, please pay attention. Sayan!" Yelling was not his strong suit.

"No. I'm worried about Sayan. He hasn't come back home yet." Rose said.

Sybil found that strange as well, when she remembered one little detail.
"Wasn't Sayan the one who was showing the Haven to those two new guests? I'm sure he's fine." Sybil explained, trying not to be worried. There was much to see at the Haven and many rules to let clear, so she believed that was what was delaying Sayan.

Sybil knew Rose too well, and knew she wasn't going to give up.
"Alright Rose, alright. To set your mind at ease, let's go find him. Just tell me the places he frequents and we'll look there first." Sybil suggested, believing Sayan was just resting from his tour. It may take a while though, since it was still night, so they couldn't count on the warbler's help. The only chance was for one of the keas to be around, since they were a few who never left their nocturnal lifestyle.

No matter how hard they called... Sayan seemed to remain still and motionless.

In his mind-- the one voice soon became two voices. 'Follow the scent...' 'No! Leave this place!' 'Find the salt. Follow the darkness...' 'No... save yourself! Save the others! Leeave...! The two distinct voices called back and forth. With each voice-- came flashes. A flash of something dark yet oddly familiar followed by something light yet somehow comforting. He soon heard others voices... Raul and Harland! Yet in his mind... he seemed unable to get past what seemed like two separate forces.

He started to almost flinch, yet still seemed entranced in whatever was holding him in place.

"He is ether at the beach, creek, or the lake where he usually catches our breakfast." Rose said.

"Alright. Let's go to the creek first. Then the beach." Sybil suggested, those places being the closest. As they walked, Sybil wanted to ask if she met somebody in her dream, but she seemed too worried and distracted to pay attention...

They went for the creek, them the beach, but there was still no sign of Sayan.
"Well, I suppose we'll have to check the lake now." Sybil said, as they headed to the wetland. If he wasn't there, they were going to check his den once more. If there was still no sign of him, well, that where Sybil reckon she should be worried, and was going to recruit the kea's help in finding him...

Much time had passed, but the voices of Raul and Harland seemed almost nonexistent to Sayan now. They couldn't tell quite what was going on. Was he ignoring them or could he genuinely not hear what they were saying? Nonetheless, it was concerning. Harland cried Sayan's name. He repeated the name several times, but to no avail.

Raul shook his head. "It does not appear to be working. Perhaps this is something the other residents will know how to deal with, but we are nowhere near them to ask. I doubt any know where we even are." He shifted his head. "Harland, you are astute. You were searching the area. Do you remember the way around what we saw? Can you navigate it back?"Harland was pretty certain he could do that. He nodded sharply. "Then go, seek out another resident. Anyone will do. Lead someone back here. I know it seems foolish to ask you to navigate new terrain on your own, but you must trust me. I wish to stay here, see if I can get his attention, if he'll come to and explain what is going on." Raul explained each word with a serious tone, fierce eyes locked on to the wild ass.

Harland turned sharply around, kicking off the ground with a clear leap. He took off swiftly, racing instead of leaping with playful bounds as he usually does. He began to call for attention as he navigated the forest. He felt scared, prancing through the strange dark. Find the river, reference that. Maybe someone would hear him.

As they walked towards the lake, Sybil was trying to talk to Rose a little, but she saw how distracted and fidgety she was, so Sybil believed it was best not to disturb her. As they reached the outback, they could see that Sayan wasn't there either.
"Humph, not here either... I wonder if he's still trying to find a home for those two new guests." Sybil expressed, hoping that was all. Those two new residents were quite big, and they looked like savannah animals, so there was no doubt they were going to be hard to accommodate.

"Yes... I do." Sybil said, as she followed Rose to the source of the sound. That wasn't a voice she recognized, so that must be one of the new residents...

Harland skidded to a stop, ears shooting up at the sound of a distant voice. Someone else was nearby! "I hear you! Please, come to me!" He shifted his direction towards the voice, bounding towards it quickly.

Now that the voice was clearer, Sybil could definitely tell it wasn't a voice she knew. She followed it, to find it was a donkey. No doubt the new guest.
"Hello there. I'm Sybil, the creator of this Haven. Sorry I couldn't attend to your needs yesterday. I was super busy." Sybil explained, always introductions first with her.

Harland shook his head, a sharp, quick motion. "It's fine. Harland." He tried to speak quickly, get the niceties tossed aside as quickly as possible. "I'm sorry, but there isn't really time for casual conversation right now. Something seems to be the matter with Sayan. He refuses to respond to any attempts to speak with him. He's just staring into the darkness, without reaction."

"Oh. I see. Well, I suppose that answers where Sayan is." Sybil said to Rose, hoping that gave her peace of mind. She was, however, worried when Harland said Sayan seemed like he was into some kind of trance. It wasn't like him to stare blankly at nothing like that. Sybil knew the Haven well, and they weren't any plants that could affect animals that way, so asking the donkey to lead the way, Sybil wished that all that predicament was that Sayan simply fell asleep and nobody noticed...

"Don't worry Rose. I'm pretty are he just fell asleep after all the exhaustion." Sybil said, trying to assure her, and trying not to make a big deal out of it...

"Follow me, quickly. Raul stayed back with him in case he recovered," Harland denoted before turning on his heel and bounding towards where he came. Those which he was leading did not seem in a particular hurry, and as bothersome as that was, there was little be could do about it. As such, he moved with his usual large bounds, slower than running, but still a little quicker than a walk.

Sybil had to rely on his stomps to follow him. Realizing she was getting left behind, she took a little hitchhike on Rose, since her short civet legs weren't the best for rushing...

Once the donkey took them to where Sayan was, she realized they were awfully close to where the python left.
"Have you guys lost it!? This place is forbidden! There is a huge, dangerous snake living nearby!" Sybil scolded, believing it was the donkey and his horned companions that ventured there. She would never think Sayan lead them to that dangerous place.

Harland's ears fell as he was reprimanded by Sybil, not expecting to be on the receiving end of such an action. "How were we supposed to know that?" he asked, voice strained a little as he attempted to speak. "Sayan was the one who took us here. He never said anything about it being dangerous or forbidden." He tried to lift his head, but still felt a little intimidated despite how much smaller Sybil was than he. "He never even mentioned a snake."

Sybil didn't believe Sayan would get them there on purpose, so she then went to ask Sayan himself, who was just a few meters away from them.
"Sayan! Care to explain?" Sybil asked, not receiving not even a flinch as response. She then turned to Rose.

"Rose! Go check on him!" she asked, since she knew him better. And if there was something in the environment that was affecting him, then perhaps it would affect Rose as well, so part of the mystery would be solved.

Raul shifted his attention to Rose and Sybil. He still stood next to Sayan, hardly having moved. "He has not moved since Harland left." Raul shook his head. "I wish I had known about the dangers of this area. We would not have gone near."

"But you said Sayan was the one to lead you here? That's not right! Why would he do that!?" Sybil asked frantically, wanting to know why Sayan would guide them to a place he knew well was forbidden to everybody. That was irresponsible and a severe oversight, and that wasn't like him at all. He was one of the most responsible and mature residents of the Haven. There wasn't any knowledge of a plant or something in that area that would alter somebody's way of thinking, so the problem must be with Sayan himself...

While Rose tried to make Sayan get back to reality, it was Sybil's priority to be sure the new residents left.
"Harland. You and your friend leave this place at once! The snake that lives here knows us a little, but I don't know how he will do with such large strangers." Sybil explained, wanting those two out of that place immediately. The python could be nearby, and even though he has treated her and Rose with courtesy, she didn't want to push her luck. They also had to leave that place, even if it meant dragging Sayan...

Harland shifted his head "Who is this snake?" he asked with a nervous croak in his voice.

Raul stepped forward, shaking his head. "We can have this explained later. It's clear that leaving needs to be our first priority. I'm sure Sybil here would not leave us fully in the dark." There was no response from Harland "Let's go." He began to move away. His pacing was not the greatest, as he was by no means a fast creature, but he moved with purpose nonetheless. Harland lifted a leg, turning his gaze to the now departing Kouprey. He hazarded a glance back at the others before trotting towards Raul, moving with clear leaps, but not going too far ahead of the large bovine.

Sybil was very relieved that the two companions obeyed her without question. Almost every resident she has to deal with are stubborn and insistent, so she was glad that wasn't the case this time. As they left, Sybil started to look around, terrified that the python could be anywhere nearby. She didn't want to visit him ever again now that they had a deal, but the current predicament was too uncalled for. Why Sayan lead the two new residents there?
"Quickly Rose! Make him react! If he doesn't, we'll have to drag him away!" Sybil said, knowing they had been there for far too long.

That night as Crocux returned home, he received a surprising, yet not exactly pleasant visit.
"Well well, if it isn't everyone's favorite belly-dragger." Yodel greeted with a sassy tone, pretending to be there by chance.

Crocux sighed "Yoldel look I had a long day and Jack decided to use his stink bombs today so my nose is burning. I need my sleep if u want to talk pls wait till leater" and with that he went in and fell asleep.

When Crocux went to sleep he was at the same shrine he was the other night. The same egg was still waiting for him. It was giving off a faint orange glow.

In the dream Crocux approached it and touched the egg gently, out of curiosity.

Crocux sighed "Yoldel look I had a long day and Jack decided to use his stink bombs today so my nose is burning. I need my sleep if u want to talk pls wait till leater" and with that he went in and fell asleep.

"My my! And they say I'm the rude one!" Yodel said bitterly, taking from off the rock the thing that he has brought. It was actually a baby yellowtail, the only one he could carry. Yodel was actually double in size, but still the fish weighed a lot. With his nose damaged, the warbler knew Crocux wouldn't be able to smell his favorite fish, so there was no point in giving it to him, not to mention that you couldn't give food to a sleeping crocodile. Yodel knew it wasn't wise to have a crocodile hating you, so that was going to be his peace offering. To avoid the fish from rotting, he headed near the mountain in order to bury it in snow and give it to Crocux when the time was right.

Crocux smiled and said "hello and I got to say that I called it. I had a feeling you were going to be a phoenix. so you're my guardian eh? well since you already know my name mind telling me yours?"

Crocux says "nice to meet you Flare. and thank you for the complement. Dad did say I was a smart one."

Crocux says "so I know phoenix's aren't real so why are you one?"

Crocux says "that makes sense. so since ur a spirit that means you were alive once so what were you when you were alive. I hope my mind didn't make your current form to... odd for you."

Rose gently kissed Sayan trying to get his attention.

As Rose kissed him-- the eyes of Sayan seemed to come back to life if only for a second. "Get... me... out..," he seemed to mumble unable to complete the statement. Sayan's eyes turned white for a second, then black, then to something of a hazed state. 'Leave them... Let them help you... Follow the scent... Leave this area...,' the two voices battled within his mind. He wasn't sure of the identity of ether voice, but he knew he wanted peace from the internal conflict.

"I can't leave you here Rose! This is the python's territory!" Sybil said nervously, not willing to put her own successor at risk.
"Please Rose. You go get Crystal. You can get to her much faster. I'll stay with Sayan and try to reason with him." Sybil urged, glaring at Rose to rush her and to show her that she wasn't going anywhere. It had to be her. She could run faster. Plus, the python already knew Sybil, so perhaps he was going to have more patience with her...

"Quite observant one aren't you?" Flare said. "You already figured out I was once an animal in my past without me telling you." She smiled and flew on top of Crocux head and gave him a pat on the head. "I was once a cheetah, the fastest cat on earth."

Crocux nods "ah I see. I think I saw your kind before. do you enjoy being a phoenix or should I try to get you a form you would prefer over that one?"
