If they went too far with that and made it similar to VII I'm going to lose a good deal of interest. VII wasn't bad but a film like this feels like it should have a more serious tone than the standard saga.

@Samius - It's the whole grand adventure in space, I guess. It's fantasy for the cool kids who don't want to be compared to fairy tales, or maybe there's more room for made up politics and cultures instead of having to think of what people call reasonable in a sorta-medieval world. SW does have a lot of room for anachronism actually.

I've seen the entire original 6 movies in a single weekend. Honestly, they melded together so hard I can't tell what I liked and what I hated in a single one.

Don't binge watch epic movies, kids.

I like all of them except The Force Awakens really. The Force Awakens is trash compared to Lord Jar Jar Binks. I'm sure Rogue One will be far greater than The Force Awakens.

The story is still terrible even if it was made good as a movie. The story is the most important part to me. I didn't want to see Disney rip off A New Hope. --- 5.7.

The original trilogy is appealing to a mass audience for its sense of adventure and the simplicity in its storytelling and characters. It's sort of like how you described TLoS: a "naive" fantasy, where there's a clear sense of good and evil. It is definitely more fantasy than sci-fi though, they just happen to have space travel.
The space magic is kind of ridiculous. But only a small amount of characters in the original trilogy use it. It's presented as a part of a long-forgotten, mysterious religion and many characters intially show skepticism towards it's usefulness.
