I stay here because of S&N, but a lot of people join S&N from the Skylanders section. Now that they're not making Skylander games anymore, there's gonna be a significant drop in the amount of people who will be joining the site. Like usual, people will lose interest in the site, and leave. But with no one joining but people leaving, the forum will eventually die. Also the fact that once a few main people start to leave, others will leave more quickly as well.

SC is the worst content wise, and that's the catch. It had amazing story - but so many cheaper games do that. It had amazing graphics - but so many cheaper games do that. The things it had to excel at, content and paywall, it just fell flat, and that's exactly what makes people realize "hey, I'm paying 75 bucks when I could get most LEGO games or The Witcher 3 for a hundred times more content" and leave. And they won't come back for the next game, because they already proved themselves right and probably convinced their kids.
If history reversed Imaginators and SC, we'd definately see more people, but it wouldn't change the impact afterwards.

Skylanders ending does not guarantee Spyro returns to his roots or we get remakes of the Insomniac trilogy. Crash remakes offer hope to that idea but it's also just as likely that Activision let Spyro float in purgatory.

Amiibos can go with different games so there kinda different in that regard as they are not stuck to one game or game series, I have no idea how Lego Dimensions is doing well, where I live level packs almost cost the price of a new release game and I've heard there not that long to finish anyway. Don't know what lightseekers is.

Yeah, what you said about Amiibo is right. Plus people feel that it's worth buying, since they will work with the Switch.

About Lego, well... They are popular, kinda. The fact that they brought Lego fans in helped. Plus, the Sonic pack made a lot of buzz.

Lightseekers is a mobile League of Legends-style game that has a (optional to use) action figure and card game line (don't ask me how a indie company managed to do all of this).

There was talk about this even before Imaginators came out ... so I'm not overly surprised by this news. But the series could just be having a break because it'd be VV's turn to release a game next year and they're busy with Crash and Destiny, but TfB would pick it back up again the year after. Who knows?
I'm still hopeful towards the possibility of a remaster though. The two franchises have been way too closely tied in with each other over the years to remaster one without the other. It'd be rude to ignore one.

But if the series is in fact cancelled and no new Spyro games are announced, I'll still be sticking around the forums. I've been here since 2009 and there's still plenty of cool people around, I've made so many memories here, and I think our community is pretty tightly knit. I wouldn't want to leave that behind.

It's interesting. I've been to other forums where a single game's prerelease and postrelease period can sustain active discussion for almost that long. Yet for games with yearly releases it's like time is sped up so everything goes by at a faster pace and discussion dries up way quicker.
