Not sure why, but I've been finding it easier to right in first person recently. There's two short stories I've been writing up recently, one first and one third. For the first time I'm actually having trouble with the one in third person.

I have never been a huge fan of writing or reading first person stories, as I find it easier to describe things in third. But now that I think about it, it's a good way to put yourself in that characters shoes, so I dunno.

Someone must have edited a post in S&N, because it shows the yellow dragon next to the topic section, yet I can't find anywhere with a yellow dragon, and I've looked through every page, up to page 60. So to whoever edited a post hundreds of pages ago, thank you for making it look like a new post, when you just edited a message nobody was ever going to see.


I'm now onto page 130, and it still shows as there's a post there next to the forum. Thanks to whatever asshole edited a post over 125 pages back.

It is your story, yes, but they are trying to give you some constructive criticism. If you write using thousands of clichès, your story will be very boring and predictable, and not many people want to read that.

While it makes total sense to use certain cliches, as they became cliches due to how they work, just pasting them together to make a story leads to a story that may not be terrible but isn't something people will really want to sit down and pay attention to.

Going by a film standpoint, let's look at something like, oh, Everyone's Hero. It's got quite a few cliches in it to what I remember and the whole thing sums up to a generic movie that doesn't do much different and becomes hard to remember (as you can tell by the fact that you yourself don't remember it). It isn't offensively bad or anything of that sort. But I can't think of anyone who would want to call it their favorite movie.
Or Hotel For Dogs, which itself isn't necessarily terrible but has so many cliches and tropes and does nothing to add to them that it's brought down as a whole.

If you're going to include a trope go ahead but try to add something to it, or subvert the expectations, or not make it such a huge focus. I'm not saying ditch them entirely, but please don't go cookie cutter on your writing.

Man, eyedrops are the worst. I mean, it's our eyes' natural reflex to blink to stop foreign matter from entering. My eyes feel a lot better now that I've used them but god damn is it hard to get in.

once when i had orthodontist appointment as a kid, they needed four people to hold me down to get the eyedrops in.

I just got finished drawing, and I am proud of it. Usualli I find it horrible, but I can only find a couple of flaws. (Eyes are way too big, could of done a better job on hair, but it was boy hair, so that was difficult, girls are easier to draw imo, AND I DREW A SEMI GOOD HAND! I am proud.)

Sitting watching Fuller House season 2 trailer over and over again to try to find out what else is going to happen that lead to those events shown!

My online school's live lessons have a chat pod, and I ****ing cringe 99% of the time whenever people say something in there. There are two idiots who are only capable of #SPEAKINGLIKETHISINALLHASHTAGS and #ITMUSTALWAYSBEALLCAPSWHENITYPE, and it's really hard to understand what they're saying when it's all 1 word in all caps (except they #DON'TCONTRIBUTEANYTHINGTOADISCUSSION so it's probably #BESTTOJUSTIGNORETHEM). And when someone in the chat says anything that one person finds funny (which is 90% of the time some horrible forced "joke"), they just go LOL XD, and then 3 thousand mindless parrots repeat them. But when I make what is obviously a joke, it's "Are you serious? You completely missed the point of the story!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!11!!1!" And then there are the people who, as soon as something is said that isn't exactly parroting what the teacher is saying, will act like they're in control of the chat and go "guys be quiet and focus on the lesson!!!!!111 You might miss what the teacher is saying!!!!!!111" If you can't understand what the teacher is saying because you took 5 seconds to type a message, I think there's something wrong with you.

And now while I'm talking about my live lessons, I want to share a story that happened just 5 minutes ago in my english lesson.

So the teacher is having us read a bunch of poems, and one has a guy building a wall to keep his neighbors he hadn't even met yet out, so naturally everyone starts going "BUILD A WALL AND MAKE THE NEIGHBORS PAY FOR IT!" So then everyone in the chat is talking about Trump, and the teacher is completely oblivious, saying things like "how do you think people on the other side of his wall feel?" "What is his motivation for building the wall?" (this one was met with "TO KEEP THE MEXICANS OUT") and then "would you build a wall to keep other people you don't even know out?" Then the teacher sees everyone talking about making the neighbors pay for the wall and asks "why are you all saying that? It wasn't in the story."

What do you want from us 2016
