Roomates surprised me with this little lady today. Not too happy that I have to run between looking up how to do X thing to adapt her to the house and playing with her, since they got her out of nowhere this afternoon, but hey I can't be upset at such an adorable little doge.

Not sure on a name :I They've been calling her Luara but idk, doesn't seem to fit her. Chances are she'll end up as Lulu, we insisted to call our late cat Leonard and over time he was just Leon.

Welp, I wake up to a rather big mess because she was too young to get separated at night and someone took her to a bed with expected results. It's going to be hard to juggle getting her used to rules and two people who'll gladly make her think she owns the place.
edit: managed to convince them to at least let she stay with the mom for another month. Still our pupper, but yeah, she needs to learn with other dogs because she isn't learning anything with us for now.

So, a day later, I can finally actually tell the story without making a mess of a wall of text.

So, me and roomates want pupper and kitty. Two of us make plans, but Reckless Roomate thinks we're taking too long, decides I don't get to choose when we get pupper, and gets a pupper donated to him.
They go get pupper the same day, but the current owner says it's TOTES fine to get her at 4 weeks, she'll get used to having no mom eventually even if she's still trying to get milk. "Bifrost they told us it's fine so stop whining" repeat for like 5 hours straight
Nobody tells me her age until way later, of course, and we find out the hard way taking too young of a puppy is a bad ****ing idea since we can't even leave the house for an hour or she gets desperate. Didn't even sleep properly saturday.
I explain to them how stupid the idea is, they finally take the pupper back, so she'll stay with her mom for another month THEN we'll get her. In the meanwhile, we can actually get a room cleaned up where she can look at us instead of an enclosed space where she naturally freaks out since the only windowed door is to the yard. Hopefully also enough time to get the kitty a room with everything it needs, since we're taking advantage of the fact Reckless Roomate doesn't know which cat I want to adopt from a place we already went to so he can't pull this stupid **** again.

But again, don't get me wrong, I love Lulu. But none of us have the time/patience to actually be parents for a dog and there'd be huge consequences to her regardless, so yeah, relief was great when someone finally listened to me. Sorry for spoiling this supposed-to-feel-good thread, but I feel like I made it too soon and it'd be weird to not mention Lulu for another month with no explanation :c

Oh don't worry, the headache of staying up all night with a crying puppy and the exhaustion that came with having to play with her until she slept every other hour was plenty of punishment. The owner still had the gall to say, "oh, we got OUR dogs at like 2 weeks, they cried for three days straight and then they calmed down" but then they have 3 other dogs and a decent sized farm and didn't quite get the memo that we live in a small house and would in fact have to hear all of it and go to work/uni regardless. I just hope they don't give Lulu to someone else out of spite >->

It's the best option on my opinion, even if I don't know much about dogs. I wish you good luck taking care of her, because, from the looks, you look like a pretty responsible owner.

the breeders are ****ty people and shouldn't be trusted with animals.

They're not breeders(I hope), they were just giving away 3 puppies and the other dogs they had were adopted strays from what I saw.

Enjoy picking up her poop, mopping the floor if she wees in it, having to put up with constant barking for attention, jumping on you while shedding hair and that stuff. Sorry, I just hate how my brother thinks it's okay to always be away and leave me to look the dog, even after I told him over and over not to get a dog. Too much hassle for me. Yet another reason I wanna live my whole life childfree.

That's why you train the dog to behave and do their business where you can easily clean it. I know about the responsability part, but we also seriously needed some activity and excitement here since everyone's all work work work and it only gets more and more stressful since everyone's grown up and boring. Even the psychologist told me to get a pupper or a kitty because having an animal that's completely unaware of your issues and still wants pets and belly rubs does amazing things to your self esteem.

Maybe this could be solved with a chil... Oh forget, pets are better, right? I don't personally like to have one, but I can see why you want one.

Pupdate: 30 days are up, we're picking Luna (they decided on a name after all >w>) up today! Hopefully she'll get used to her new house, because...



Cat acquired! We were accepted at the shelter to get little Athena (my turn to name) here. She wouldn't stop for a second so taking a picture was hard. We'll pick her up next week, they appeared to be in quite the hurry to get her a home since they told us it was a 10 day period but they were calling yesterday already wanting us to go get her. Gotta wait a few days tho, Luna is priority since she's younger (Athena is approx. 9 months). So excited, now we finally have the whole house pet-ready :3

Luna grew up quite a lot in the last 30 days, she barely fit in the transport box because we thought she'd only grow 5cm or so. Well,at least she's home and safe, and hopefully can get used to sleeping without her mommy soon.

Oh, that happened with the cat at my house too. He doesn't fit on the transport box anymore and, at the first days, we couldn't sleep as a whole. But I don't think it will last much with you too.

Well, considering the others encouraged her by getting up to scold when she whined, I just hope it's little time.
