This literally describes most of the really popular content creators on YouTube. I can't think of one YouTuber that hasn't swore or made a sexual joke before, besides Minecraft YouTubers and Cat Videos.
Congrats, YouTube! You're alienating a majority of your greatest video makers with stupid rules.

That's another video site. I did see they're going after some channels' monetization for "controversial subject" discussion, but as soon as they accidentaly trip on, say, PDP because he swears on his videos, they'll backpedal hard.

So on that last point, if you say something that might be "controversial" you get your video removed? Guess you can't say anything.

By that they meant it's still crazy vaguely worded but now they can make any stretches to take down monetization as they feel like.
Part of me hates this happens constantly, Youtube does the Activision signature silent treatment, people forget and it gets worse; part od me wants people to let this pass so they destroy themselves.

Sounds to me like they're trying so hard to be like actual TV that they're regulating themselves somewhat like it. Youtube has become truly massive and is the premier video platform online and as such are like NBC, and want to be like that. Too bad that one of the main appeals to internet over TV (aside from considerably less ads) is that it isn't as regulated and therefore more content can show up that might not make it on TV due to language or whatnot (Critikal comes to mind).

By all means if there's some asshole who's uploading footage of the Italian earthquake and is trying to get money off it by putting ads, stop them. But these TOS are way too vague.

I mean, it's still as mismanaged and dominated by tumblrinas, but animators and smaller content creators could definately use this tiny help for short funny things.

welp, i'll happily move from YouTube to anywhere else while giving YouTube a generous helping of my middle finger if they demonetize all of my YouTubers' videos and they move to Twitter or Dailymotion or something. this is ridiculous. what were they thinking? those vague guidelines describe at least 60% of the videos on their site!

Uuuh... Vimeo... No, they randomly delete videos because they want to keep an image. Dailymotion,uh... Not too different. Whatever player most LPer websites use?

You'd think after campaigns like #Where'sTheFairUse and #MakeYouTubeGreatAgain YouTube would've listened to its creators and actually made the website more user-friendly when it comes to content. This pretty much shows they learned absolutely nothing.

I mean this is the equivalent of firing a cashier because they just so happened to say "hell" while they were on the job. It makes no sense.

As a little bit of an update to this situation, it turns out that they've been doing this forever now and the only thing that changed is that they warn people about their money being taken.

Also, the content of the video is not the issue here, it's the Titles, Tags and Thumbnails. You can swear and make dirty jokes all you want, but you can't put all that **** in the tags.

So, still really bad and scummy but at least that clears it up a little.

If I'm not mistaken, then that means they have been taking money away from creators WITHOUT TELLING THEM.

God anything but Vessel. Their videos for starters lag the hell out when you start, then don't properly show how much has loaded, and if you get to the buffer bar, the video plain dies and goes back to the start - and good ****ing luck skipping ahead to find where it decided to stop. RT player is less of an issue than that.

I'd make some sort of snarky business remark here but since YouTube is owned by Google (but was spun off for the purposes of stocks into that whole Alphabet nonsense), I really don't think Google's bottom line is gonna suffer too much here. >.>
