Us mods are not really biased, we look at a situation and judge the idea from there. Maybe this was one of those not bright moves. But before everyone demands my ass on a silver platter, let me explain some things.

Your gofundme thread not only did it follow under potential harassment, but it also broke the advertising rule as well. So a MM was well justified (imo). You went off the deep end and tried to make a stink of things basically going "WHY CAN'T I GET AWAY WITH RULE BREAKING!" like a 5 year old wanting respect and the thread general to me seemed rather unnecessary and it just escalated to saying what you wanted to other users rudely whether you were joking or not. Maybe we should've gone in and pmed you of what you were doing wrong, but the message we got from the thread when looking at it was you didn't simply care to know why. Or at least it had that vibe. So we thought a timeout would have been reasonable and here we after the 6 hours.

inb4 another user says the mods are biased I can have you know right now that you could've suspended for entirely different reasons and I will be happy to name them if you wish.

Because people want to be pleased. Which sadly is the most difficult thing to do. Because well we mods can't please everyone all of the time. We try to figure out the best solution, but it always appear to be not good enough for anyone. Getting the middle finger left and right. I don't see why this is worth getting all worked up about when the suspension was, to my knowledge, under a day. Suspensions aren't on your permanent record and aren't something that the mods can see once they're finished. They pass by without much talk once they're finished and aren't often brought up again unless the suspendee decides to complain about it. Case in point.

By making a big fuss about it you seem to prove that you care quite a bit. And don't give me any "I don't actually care about being suspended lol" talk like I swear others have before. You clearly do. At the very least you care about getting your voice heard. Consider it heard loud and clear and while I'm not going to speak for the actions of the other mods, bias is something that has been greatly worked on.

Ribbing and joke trolling is something that mostly flies when the people involved are both clearly friends and in on the joke. It's when someone isn't in on the joke that it becomes taken more seriously. Supposedly in this case Strider was not in on the joke when it happened and while they don't really care one way or the other (I'll get to that), it's not necessarily on the same level as Pixil talking **** to Arceus, two people who are friends and in on the joke constantly.

If you call someone a dumbass when they don't realize or notice you're joking and then use the defense "it was a joke", it won't necessarily fly. I can't go ribbing QueenChrysalis and then say it was a joke and she's in on it when she wouldn't actually know since we aren't close like that. That's what seems to be the case here. A suspension seems a little extreme on one hand but on the other, again, it was less than a day and was a time out more than anything (once again, something Dark has frequently noted the mods should do more of).

So really you should cool the jets a bit and not let this get to you so much. It would've flown by completely forgotten if not for this response thread.

2. A joke fundraiser page probably isn't going to get any actual donations from anyone so it likely wouldn't fall under advertising. You're stretching it. By that logic the rules of advertising would have to cover a lot more ground. As in, cannot display any artistic pieces or link to your pages that may have any donation button or abilities (something I've frankly already considered stopping as far as threads about my music are concerned). It's just overkill.

While I agree that he was disrespectful, the point still stands that he as a user deserves a response.

You as a moderator should be the better person in this situation, even if he was being nice to you or not.

While I agree that he was disrespectful, the point still stands that he as a user deserves a response.

Doing a job and giving proper respect do not correlate with each other.

People who work as cashiers have to deal with assblasted pissbabies all day every day, and they still have to smile and be kind to them. Mods don't have to be kind, but they still have to give responses and warnings and the such.

the other has none of that authority

Because he got suspended, to his knowledge, out of nowhere. Now to us it's VERY obvious why this happened, but to other including him...well not so much. There should ALWAYS be a situation where a user is told why they're suspended before actually being suspended, and an example to back it up. That's the job part of the scenario, mods should always be expected to do that if they respect the user or not.

It's just common sense, ya feel.

Okay I think you got about half what I'm saying, like I think you're overthinking this, friend.

1) I'm not yelling at SF. I'm not saying THEY should give the response to the question HCI imposes. I was just simply agreeing with CAV and pointing out that if a user doesn't give you respect, you should turn the other cheek and perform your duty without giving sass back or anything. It's poor work ethic if you give a customer, or in this case user, disrespect. It's a poor display of power and you can easily get revoked.

2) I agree that HCI was in the wrong. But that doesn't mean the mods did something a little bit wrong. They made a mistake, it happens, they learn from it. I'm not saying "AW YEAH **** THE MODS!!! Are mods police officers and users criminals? no. Not at all. But mods have a similar job to police officers, and users are expected to keep up with the law of the land. If they don't, they get properly dealt with to whatever the mods see fit. But it's common sense that a mod SHOULD respond to a user if they genuinely do not know what they were suspended for. Even if they posted porn, even if they were harassing mods and other users, even if they killed someone. They deserve to know if the user ASKS. That's what CAV is saying and that's what I'm saying.

Perfect! Then that's settled, this topic should have ended a while ago but all the mods felt like they had to explain something i guess idk. At least this was a learning experience for everyone.

SS, all I was saying was that should a situation arrive where a person like HCI was disrespecting mods yet asked why they were suspended, then you shouldn't ignore them because they're a jerk. You should give the honest answer and leave it at that.

It shouldn't depend on the situation if they're asking a question with a simple answer.
