I'm no expert, but if the app isn't fixing it, it might be something to do with your device

It worked fine until an update came the one that removed footsteps altogether, then it failed to recognize my GPS. I have looked online and tried every possible setting that is suggested. It still won't work. Something about the update caused the game to break for me.

I like how some people automatically assumes there's gonna be some kind of legendary event or possibly even GEN II!!!!!

I honestly think its way too early for either. The former requires some strategic and procurement planning while the latter is just a tad too early for those who wanna complete the pokedex from Gen I and get a nice holiday indoors until the weather warms back up.
