I saw several people have their 4 year DS anniversaries this last month
(I'm here for 5 years but I actually didn't notice until it was past the date shhhhh)

Well what do you expect? It's a site dedicated to two niche gaming franchises. Of course it will never be super busy. The only time it's busy is when major news is coming out for the newest Skylanders game

Everyone is dying, soon or later. Including darkSpyro.

I feel like I keep bumping into the same people on this website. But then there's the roleplaying section, where the people are completely different. Even the mods are different!

Joined in 2012, but I have been absent a lot recently. I'm trying to make it up. ^.^

I think it says something when, including my post, more than half the users that posted in here are from 2011 or earlier. And an additional chunk come from 2012 itself.

Why our particular bunch doesn't know how to leave the damn site when only a handful from 2006-2009 are still here I don't know.

I discovered this site is 2012, but I only joined two years ago.

but lets get real there was a sublte shift in the dynamic of this website

we would get waves of people from the skylander craze (i was a proud member of the spyros adventure bandwagon) and there were always new people to meet and talk to

kids who had never been on forums before making names for themself and establishing who they were made things fresh

over time the less invested people flaked away but eventually we had a core group of S&N personalities to joke with

but people grew up, got bored, or both and the user activity and new user count dropped along with the hype for skylanders

so the drop in new users drifting to S&N offset the balance of people leaving and things slowed down

like remember the kinds of **** I used to do just to get a reaction out of people, or the daily trends and memes, the adoration of mods, controversy among users, stuff like that was fueld by new blood but the fire went out

that was what made S&N cool and interesting. it used to be a fast paced meme and drama machine unlike any other, now it has slowed down dramatically.

empires come, and empires go, and theoretically this website will last for as long as there are games with spyro in them, but forum=22 is a former shell of itself and there is nothing you or I can do about it

ive been here for almost 6 years and i'm nothing but bones and dust now

Pretty sure it's around the same amount of users, just some have left and some have joined in. It's different, but a lot of time has gone by since 2012 so it is inevitable.

Also I think back then SaN was just a load of spammed topics before the mods came about or when the topic limit was made. I may be wrong though.

I joined back in 2010. But I have been incredibly inactive for the last two years. With maybe a few bouts of posting sprinkled throughout them before I forgot about the website again.

I used to have friends here, but then I stopped posting on the roleplaying sub-forum, as I grew tired of writing. That was the second time I faded into obscurity.

Back to the topic title. Is the website dying right now? I have no idea, nor am I the right person to make that assessment. But the website, and maybe even the Spyro franchise wont last the next 10-20 years unless an actual Spyro game comes out in the next ten years.

Yeah, for some reason S&N used to be extremely fun back in the day. Perhaps it was topic variety, but it leaves me scratching my head as to how to make topics that were similar to the ones we all used to love back then. It also makes me wonder if I was just a newcomer excited by the thrill of trying to fit in and mesh with a new community...

2013 was fun for me, to be honest. Now I'm curious how it was in 2012....

But I Agree with Drawdler, a lot of younger kids, including myself, have gotten into SaN because of Skylanders, so it may just be because of the gap.

Looking at my post history, I would say I had the most fun around 2013-2014. That's a personal opinion. Thanks to Chatzy, Survivor and RPing, I was finally starting to make a name for myself. And when people starting knowing who I was, I began to feel like my posts and opinions were more valued and, therefore, had a better time.

three years and i'm still cringeworthy, celebrating four in a month or so

the site isn't really dedicated to spyro/skylanders over here anyways, once skylanders dies then this site'll still keep going, because s&n and all the off-topic categories'll still be alive for years to come
this isn't a place for skylanders/spyro for me, even if my (terrible) username says otherwise. personally, i don't think the site is or will die anytime soon.
