The "79 cents for every dollar a man makes" is wildly incorrect, because it doesn't take into account how much maternity leave a woman takes, how many hours a woman works, and the most important one.... The fact that women don't tend to take as many higher paying jobs as men do.

The "wage gap" has nothing to do with comparing how much women and men earn for the same job.
Essentially, the argument for the wage gap is Susan went to the park to collect seashells, and Mark went to the beach to collect seashells. Susan found 1, and Mark found 20, and thaT iS SO ****ed UP BECauSe SUSAN IS A WOMAN and DesErVES MORe SHELLS.

Do people not understand that an entire company would actually be run to the ground if it ever came out that they paid their woman almost 25% less than they did their men? Nobody would ever risk that, they would lower their salaries for everyone if the budget was really an issue rather than risk losing their entire company. That's literally illegal, they would be shut down.

In a relatively unregulated capitalist country like America, it's impossible to make a blanket statement about wage and employment, because pretty much everything varies from corporation to corporation. There are definitely companies that pay women less than men for the same job. There are also companies that cheat women on maternity leave. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that women make universally less than men.
