I bought these fireworks called ladybugs and it had little sparks coming out of it and it was really cute. But then **** got real when it sprung out of control and flew into the night sky exploding into little ladybug pieces.

my dog used to be terrified but now shes sorta used to it but i let her come inside and that solves it

#JusticeforWindumup. I kid, but I dunno, I guess it's sorta expected around this time for people to let off fireworks. Perhaps you're getting scared/worked up over nothing?

Dude, if they scare you, put in some headphones and listen to music or something. It's not that hard.

However, I do urge people to be courteous with fireworks, not because of crybabies like Windumup, but because of pets or (more importantly) veterans with PTSD. I live in a very rural area and my cat and dogs are used to loud noises, so I kind of go nuts with mine. But if I was in a suburb, I would opt for smaller ones, or even none at all.

Also, from a distance, professional grade fireworks can be easily mistaken for a shotgun or hunting rifle, and consumer grade ones can sound similar to pistols. So yeah, I can see how someone could mix them up.

Just let people shoot off their fireworks. It's only a few nights out of the entire year.

Once again, it depends on the type of fireworks and the type of gun. Obviously not all fireworks is going to sound like a gun or vice versa.

99% of the big booming fireworks you're going to be hearing, and even the small ground fireworks don't sound like guns. Sure there might be a few but if you listen carefully you can tell the difference.

I've heard fireworks so much around where I live that even if it was a gunshot I wouldn't really know and I'd sooner assume it was a firework.

I'm not listening carefully because I don't care enough to, but the sound is recognizable enough since I went to a military service not too long ago.

If you don't care enough to listen carefully then you're obviously not in a place where guns being used violently is an issue anyway, so it really shouldn't matter.

I knew how to shoot a gun before I knew how to tie my shoes. While fireworks can be mistaken for some guns, it's usually only from rather long distances. You don't need to be worried either way.

I didn't say that it mattered? I only said that a lot of the ones going off atm sound like guns and that it semi-frightens me because I'm slightly paranoid.

You have nothing to worry about, trust me.

I'm not trying to argue with anyone, I just always hear people complaining about being afraid of guns every year around this time.
Usually coming from people who have no need to be worried about guns.

my cats are scared of them. not just the cats i have, the cats i've had throughout my entire 17 years of existence..which is quite a lot. (more than 10, some from different litters, spaced throughout 17 years.)

you..do realize dog's hearing is more more acute then ours? It sounds louder to them then it does to us. This is why they're afraid of thunderstorms and vacuums too. They aren't "retarded" they're just acting naturally. >_>

I can say for myself that cats are really scared of those things.

my cat couldn't care less about fireworks. he still sleeps on his blanket nonetheless, covering it in hair and sleeping all day and night
