I need motivation to work on this Spyro/Skylanders fanfic I started working on last year! .-. I mean, it's the reason I joined this site in the first place...

I feel like I'm failing y'all... I mean...

What inspired me to take this on is I looked at MLP and I looked at Skylanders. They both have all the ingredients necessary to produce great fan-fiction: A wealth of interesting characters, a rich setting, room for world building. But while MLP has an incredibly diverse library, Skylanders is strangely lacking... I skimmed over a couple of Skylanders fanfics and a lot of them don't even use proper pros. while others have chapters that are only a few hundred words long (This post is a few hundred words long).

By writing a Skylanders fanfic I was hoping several things would happen;

1. I would create something that Skylanders fans everywhere could enjoy.

2. I would inspire Skylanders fans to create their own pros. fan-fiction (not just transcripts or short paragraph-fics). Which can have several effects: Not only improving grammar and literacy skill, and interest in reading, but also potentially jump-starting a career in authorship.

3. I would get myself out of this rut where my life has basically stalled and I haven't done anything of value in years.

4. A bit of recognition would also be nice, but I don't really write fics for that.

You just gave yourself four reasons to continue. Even though I don't know what pros. stands for.

I'll admit, I'm not particularly fond of people who start fanfics and then just stop. Out of nowhere.

I mean, I know life can get in the way and all, and that is a very valid excuse, but it really sucks when the fanfic is really good and then nothing happens with it ever again.

So, assuming life isn't messing with anything, DO IT. DON'T BE LIKE THOSE OTHER PEOPLE

Well my idea is to get the frame-work complete, and then start publishing one chapter a week.

Unfortunately I lost the original notes for the synopsis, but it's basically set in a slightly altered canon (I changed the canon slightly partly for convenience (No teleporting in and out of existence for the Skylanders, and no 4th wall breaking connection to the Real World), and partly to give me a bit more freedom with the lore). Basically Kaos was unsuccessful in his attempt to destroy the Core of Light, so the Skylanders were never ejected into the Real World and turned into Figurines. I know this is technically a key part of what makes Skylanders Skylanders but I just couldn't find a way to work something that silly into a serious narrative.

There's also a whole backstory involving Prince Spyro and Princess Cynder (Who lived a thousand years ago, and are basically the ancestors of all but the most ancient dragons today), an order of Dragon Slayers who would later become the first Skylanders, Spryo and Cynder's 16 children (2 for each element, a boy and a girl), and the Sorceress (Yes, THAT Sorceress)

I don't want to say too much, both because spoilerific and because I haven't worked out all the details, but a new evil makes its way into the Skylands, far greater than anything the Skylanders had ever had to face before. Testing not only their mettle, but also their unity. Only through standing together can they hope to survive.

I know that premise is a little generic but again, I haven't worked out all the details. I will let you know that they get to fly around in a giant castle with giant engines attached to it in this one, though.

In terms of tone, my stories tend to be a mix of drama, humor and lite romance.
