what i mean by "annoying" is not the show itself, but the way some (not all!) fans act and talk about it nonstop, post nonstop, and relate everything too the show and worship it. mainly tumblr would be a good example of this.

Okay, that could be a yes (I give 75%), but what do I know. I don't really keep up with the show except for the local topic in idle chatter ... I haven't even watched the recent episodes. TL/DR, I need to get to watching.

Also, I enjoy SU semi-ironically and I feel like you can attribute these feelings to any fan base. Steven Universe isn't all that bad... Granted, the fan base DID drive a person to suicide over in accurate fan art, soooooooo...

Because as we all know, if you like the same thing as somebody else, you must be exactly the same as them in every single way, down to sexuality and life-style choices!

@Samius I have a very low tolerance for "Hurr durr, x fandom sux! And everybody who likes x is a ***got!" I am, quite frankly, hearing this **** over and over again.

Also, I checked the FNAF reddit and it is mostly just talking about random events that happen in the game, and the occasional safe for work drawing of a character. Yeah that's... Really... Really... horrible...

That's the regular reddit but look at it's side reddits r/fnafcringe r/fnafcringerule34 those are truly immature FNAF side reddits.

SU isn't my cup of tea but I do like the concept and the memery.

Yknow when I go on image-dump sprees, I started flicking through dozens of images and select the ones I like the most. Yes, I find crap, but that doesn't bother me because a poorly drawn image of Twilight Sparkle is only going to hold my attention for enough milliseconds for my brain to realize that it is a terrible image that isn't worth sharing. I also use filters. While finding the above images, I used the tag "safe" to ensure I wouldn't accidentally link to anything NSFW. I also have "Memes" on my permanent black-list because I don't want to see those.

As for Fanfics, speaking as somebody who got through depression by reading fanfics, I don't know what to say other than that you need to find better fanfics.

The fact I noddded to myself at the end should've pointed out I was joking about that last one.

Also, ever heard of generalization? Just because there's good porn, doesn't mean I'm saying it doesn't exist by pointing at bad ones. Just because there are good OCs,doesn't mean the bad ones destroy their existence. Fanfics is because I'm fed up with my phone eating words while I type so I didn't bother expanding.

I haven't liked SU, I don't like SU, and I won't like SU.
Yeah, sure, I guess I agree with the message it's putting out, but there's far more cons than pros.

For some reason, I really don't like the set pieces. I don't like how it feels like every background for the show is "sparkly pastel goddess aesthetic uwu". It makes everything blend together and I wish it would find some way to change tones every once and a while.

I also really, really, REALLY don't like Steven's voice. It's like nails on a chalkboard to me and I can't stand it. I get that he's supposed to be a kid, and I get that the VA is actually a kid, but they could have found someone with a more pleasing voice.

Also the fandom, for the most part, is one of the most toxic fanbases I've ever seen. For the record, I'm specifically speaking about Tumblr, since that community is the only experience I have with it. You do one little thing that they think is remotely wrong, and they crucify you. Now there's talk about the entire SU team supporting pedophilia because the creator jokingly drew Ed, Edd, and Eddy porn like 5 years ago. It's ridiculous.

That being said though, even though I don't like most of the characters, Garnet and Lapis Lazuli are pretty good. Outside of that, I don't think there's anyone I like.

My issues with the show aren't the aesthetic, it's the animation. It's GOOD fluid animation,but it puts me off how fluid and almost slow it is. Everything moves like noodles and not in the goofy Adventure Time sort of way, and I can't pay attention to the show with it getting my focus(low attention span whoo). I still really like looking at the memes and the character analysis, because even if it's a filler party the lore is there to be appreciated.

okay but most of the fandom drove a girl to suicide because she drew rose qaurtz wrong. normally i would agree with you, but it's not just "a couple of redditors" it was like 80% of the fanbase that did this. (and it wasn't Redditors, it was tumblr) it got so bad that one of the artists on the show had to step in and say something.

zami, the artist who was driven to suicide is actually doing just fine. though she was afraid to draw anything for a while, because someone might get on her for it. however, i think her story kinda does tell you what the SU fandom is like as a whole. entitled whiny brats who don't want to let their precious politically correct show be ruined by someone drawing rose quartz skinny...even if it was just zami's artstyle. :\


I honestly think SU might be the worst fandom, and I don't want to consider myself part of it.

Well, when you're witch hunted by tumblr usually there's nowhere safe in the internet and they can and HAVE driven people to suicide sucesfully before over really dumb things - not a fandom, but over other stuff. They'll get your personal information, harass you on every site possible, if you slipped at some point even try calling your relatives and workplace to do horrible slander, all because you maybe said something offensive the other day - if they don't jump on false accusations made by someone who just hates you of course.
Well, it's not just tumblr,but false rumors spread more easily there because people don't see responses and edited posts if they don't go looking. Reddit Justice has also done damage to a lot of people and estabilishments.

Back to fandom,we're not even getting into fandom wars. SU at least usually is in good terms with other cartoon fandoms but some just dogpile if you IMPLY you like the rival franchise.

The pilot was made by Pendleton Ward- the same guy who made Adventure Time, but the show is written and directed by Breehn Burns. The animation is exactly the same as Adventure Time, but I find the writing and humor alot better.

So in short, I politely ask to put Bravest Warriors on the Bucklet List as well.

Also back on subject with what you said, I very much agree with what you said. In a way, the animation of the faces and arms are Uncanny Valley.

Yeah, I do find it overrated. I enjoy the show but I dont really think it deserves all the publicity it gets.

ps ps im agreeing with people talking about fandom toxicity and how this can relate to multiple fandoms. I feel a similar way with Doctor Who, but with SU being cartoon people take on a whole new form with their fanfiction and how THEY see things and how others MUST interpret things.

Yes this. Tumblr is also my main experience with SU and seeing how people are so serious and restrictive over their feelings gets me going. Also all the manic pixie-ness of the show style, characters, etc gets me. I am for powerful woman always, but the uWu so perfect she my mom queeeennn **** is too much. Once again, yes this can cross to other fandoms. I just seem to see the most issues among SU as many fans are not just fans but worshippers. As if this show is a religion.

Real talk: I was putting off watching Steven Universe for when I was in the mood for something that I didn't care was stupid. But now? I don't ****ing care. I ain't touching that **** with a 50 foot pole. It can burn in hell for all I care. I've condemned more for less.
