What happened to the days of Jelsa (Jack x Elsa). I wouldn't mind a Lesbian Disney Princess actually though.

Because characters are now defined by how much of a minority they are and, better,if they're part of their fans' minority.

Because fans create those ideas.
I actually think that it will not take much time for Disney to create homosexual characters.

Personally, I'd prefer Elsa be asexual but that's mostly because I'd like there to be more asexual characters in the world.
![]() Really, though, with how popular Elsa's become and all the headcanons/fanon/etc about her, I reaaaalllllly feel like this is something best left alone, because no matter what Disney does, they're going to tick off some group or another. It may be better for them to make a new character from scratch for this. Less fanrage that way. Quote: Thunderdragon14
also this i feel like a terrible person for wanting to see the outrage Quote: parisruelz12
You say this like representation isn't actually important. Again, I don't think Elsa is the right character for this, but I also can't blame people for wanting representation in the form of a very popular character. It would mean a lot to a lot of people. Are plenty of the people clamouring for this or that annoying? Gods yes, but don't shoot the message. |

Do you know her life story? Do you know what she likes and doesn't like? Gosh, so presumptuous. If Elsa wants to love someone who is also a girl then dangit why can't she! You sound just like Rapunzel's mother HMPH *turns away*

Fair enough, but your initial comment made me think something else entirely. I apologize for taking it the wrong way. That said... What counts as 'forced' here? Because honestly, I've seen enough people overreact to certain things and act like it's 'forced' so I'm not sure what it actually is. The word's been thrown around enough too much in recent memory. If Disney decided to listen to this group of fans and make Elsa gay, I wouldn't consider it forced unless they absolutely botched the whole thing and put zero effort into it. I don't necessarily consider 'Listening to group of fans' forced if they actually handle it well (like I find the Spyro/Cynder ending in DotD forced because of how poorly it was handled and it was really thrown in because of the fans). That said, again, I really don't think Disney should in this case, and I have a sinking feeling if they did, they probably would handle it poorly. Quote: Sesshomaru75
I did mention this in my post, so I do know it's a problem. Still, comments like "muh representation" really rub me the wrong way and I tend to jump the gun when I see them, because I've had to deal with too many people saying stuff like that and meaning it in a 'shut up' manner. So, sorry about that.

Serious answer: Because her character arc in the film can be interpreted as a metaphor for coming out of the closet.

Just like how X-Men deals with discrimination against whose who are different but just say Mutants instead of different races or LGBT, which would've been more controversial at the time but got away by just saying mutants. This was why Ian McKellen and Hally Berry were in the film adaptations. With Frozen now, just say ice powers instead of sexual orientation. Then there's how Anna played the role of the prince who saves the princess (Elsa), which opens a different can of worms.

Honestly, I've seen people call some characters gay/lesbian with another just because they were standing next to each other.
Yep. So who knows?

I've seen theories since the movie came out, and I guess it's just because her sexuality or romantic orientation was never touched upon in the film so it leaves it up for fan speculation.

Personally I don't think sexuality should be a major role in character making. And it should not forced to either. It's just a little bonus trivia.
As for 'muh representation' stuff. I feel like a character can have a sexuality, but it's 100% up to the creators, not the fans or anyone else. Which is why I get pissed with people demanding a character to be gay or forcing the agenda on a character creator (Which I have seen plenty from SJWs on Tumblr and some maybe part of the SU fandom). I understand that representation can be important to some, but it's not really that important in storytelling unless the story you plan to tell has a message about said sexuality or something. What I am getting at is representation is nice, but not 100% needed. But you can put it in there as long as it's on your terms (if it's your story). Or at least that's how I feel about the situation.
