I think the wording was blunt,but imho Metallo just means that winning an argument in the internet isn't all that is there. You can leave the tab and do something else, you're not going to be laughingstock for learning when to stop.

Fixed, but in all honesty, I agree with Metallo on this one.

But some people can't, they simply can't leave and just go and find "gold" because of depression, anxiety, introversion, etc. Everywhere has stress and ups and downs, but here I feel like I can just be myself and the people I talk to are always really nice to me and make me feel like I belong. I still do stuff outside of this but tbh ds is a place i never want to leave despite it sometimes getting out of hand.

I think that they can find "gold", but it takes time, and this site has really helped me get close to finding it and I'm getting closer

And honestly? That's amazing, especially how a site like this brings together people and establish lifelong friendship, y'know? And it's not like you have to give up this place completely, I think Metallo just wants to say that the older a person gets, the more responsibilities they get and the more often they'll be outside their comfort zone, so it's beneficial to realize the distinction between an internet forum and real life, if there is one. Granted, he can correct me if I'm completely misinterpreting it.

Finding friends and forming relationships is great, but when you begin to treat this place as a second home or some kind of bomb shelter from reality, that's when it becomes unhealthy.

It was for only 12 hours and does serve as a message not only to those involved but to all that the mod team is cracking down as we'd asked them too.

Yeah, I might've exaggerated my post a little. It was a knee jerk reaction to Metallo's post and I wasn't really clear on what he was saying. Now I am clear and take no further issue with it.

This group seems really nice most of the time, but I feel like sometimes people get confrontational over really minor things, or sometimes literally nothing (As in, somebody says "hi", and then people start ganging up on them kind of nothing)!

I'm not going to name names but I feel safe using this example because it was from an old RP thread from before I lost internet and was forced to go MIA, so you probably won't be able to find it... Said RP thread ends with one of the players none-ironically yelling at people and telling them off for posting in the thread (They weren't even the OP)... Just... Wut...

Like.. I mean.. Why were people arguing over whether a legendary Pokemon looked like a bat or a dragon..? No..! Don't answer that! I don't care. I just want to make friends here, but these weird aggressive episodes are getting in the way sometimes.

It's exactly what we just said yesterday. Who cares if it's attacking opinions? Arguing will only make both sides bent on winning for nothing but pride. If you made your point and it's not straight up personal attacks, you did your job in the discussion. If they don't agree and won't be reasonable about it, no worth in continuing. Again, "losing" or abandoning it won't make people think less of you, since you kept your cool.

Rule one of internet fights: everyone lost the moment they entered it.

^ to be fair in the pokemon topic the way windumup worded it seemed like they were just bitter and they weren't letting it go, but they called it a joke

when someone does something like that it really ticks me off personally and i can imagine it annoys other people too, although i doubt it would've started anything tbh

Wndumup also did the same thing when they got flamed for not spoiling a part in a game by posting jokes about it and changing their signature.
