It turns out that Disney Infinity has been performing poorly enough for Disney to bring all production and further development for the series to a halt!It's been reported the series has cost the company upwards of $147 million.

What are your thoughts on this?
I'd say this is bad for the fans of this series, but for Skylanders fans this might be what the series needs to get back to full strength, with Disney Infinity out of the way, it means there is less competition and in result, more people may move over to the Skylanders series. However less competition also means less competitive prices and less of a reason to provide a better product. Let's just hope the delay for the next Skylanders 6 game isn't because Activision is considering axing the series after the poor sales of SuperChargers.

I just hope this means we get Marvel and Star Wars for Lego Dimensions haha...

I stand corrected. I was lazy and just used the search button and typed in Disney to see if any new topics had been made since this announcement was made. (Which there wasn't) Completely overlooked the possibility that it had already been posted already in existing topics, sorry.

Amiibo's honestly probably gonna be around for a while. It's very successful, and their use in games are unique and whatnot.

The "they're more recognizable" argument isn't always a good argument. People believed that DI would destroy Skylanders for the same reason, after all, and look at them now.
I agree that amiibo will probably outlast Skylanders though.

Yeah, true. Still, I feel like Amiibo's are going to be here for a while, maybe not because their recognizable, but for other reasons.

Just saying, but TTL is dying. Some guys, I think directors, of Vicarious Visions already left. Skylanders Superchargers doesnt have great sales to come along, too.

LD, in my country at least, stays stuck on very high prices, and with the minor experience I have from working in a toystore, I can say many parents here refuse to buy LD mainly for the 80-100 euro starterpacks. While Skylanders STpacks go for less then 40, even the darkSTpacks go for less then a LDStarterpack....
Again, thats the issue we've got here. Perhaps its different somewhere else

I think Skylanders is gonna be out of the game pretty soon, as sad as it is to see it go. Amiibo, I believe, will be around for a while though.

It's just you're country. I live in Washington state, I went a Walmart and a Target. Both sides had no amiibo, and were stocked full of LD and Skylanders. As much as I don't like Skylanders, I know it's probably the last we'll see of Spyro for a while (Unless Acti does something for the fans of the older games, knowing them, it's probably not going to happen) which is saddening to be honest.

No need to keep hostile rivalry. Skylanders needs as much competition as the other two ones that stayed to keep changing and not just raise prices whenever, and each has its ups and downs.That said, it's still a heartless end to DI.

It is sad that one of the toys for life series is ending. I found Disney infinity limited, because characters were playable only in their own world en the toy box, but I liked the characters. Also I think that Skylanders has more diversity.

Lego dimensions does that smarter, with the mix all the characters in the different worlds. But ..... Sometimes when I play Lego dimensions it feels like playing one of the other Lego computer games. It is not different enough.

The toys for life series are expensive as a hobby. To keep an edge in this market the standards for quality are high. I think that Skylanders has the best chance to keep the standards high and they are ahead of their competitors. I think they surprise us and will continue longer than we think.

A lot of people though that Pokemon and Magic the Gathering would end a lot sooner, but they are still around, because they keep focusing on what works and quality.

I think Disney Infinity should have just been a line of cartoony statues of Disney properties. Kinda like what Funko does but for Disney products only. ^.^

Actually, Disney's video-game division, Disney Interactive, is being pulled as well. From here on, Disney will license out rights to third-party game industries to make games using their franchises.

If anything, it means Disney will have a slightly smaller hand in making Kingdom Hearts and that Square Enix may need to renegotiate with other third party companies in the future to get rights to use a particular franchise as a world. I'd say this likely already severely limits chance of Star Wars or Marvel based worlds due to other pre-exisiting contracts. (Something I'm a bit thankful for)

Don't go over-budget.

I realize I'm probably a bit late to say this, but this is sad to hear. I mainly overlooked DI and didn't play it that much in general, (I was mainly focused on other games) but I was meaning to get into it more, as 3.0 was a huge improvement in my eyes and they were doing great things. It's sad that it had to end like this, just as I was starting to enjoy it more and more. I also hope this doesn't signal a fall for the TTL industry as a whole.

I fear the concept of oblivion, that there is absolutely nothing after death. I do not care if Disney Infinity is discontinued, so long as such things as oblivion do not exist. Although I have no proof that oblivion does or does not exist, Infinity being discontinued will not make any difference if it does. Because soon I shall forget my memories of Infinity and my hype for Grievous, but my fear of oblivion will still remain.

So, I can do nothing about the discontinuation of Infinity, or whether or not oblivion exists. I shall simply continue knowing that Infinity is discontinued, and that oblivion may exist, because I can do nothing about these thing.

Worse things have happened than Infinity's discontinuation, and worse things could happen. I must not allow Infinity to influence any more decisions in my life, I must simply accept that it has happened and move on. Because I can not stop Infinity from being discontinued.
