Been eight years for me, and I'm only an emerald. I was eleven when I first joined -- in case you couldn't tell by my illustrious and creative name.

EDIT: But hey, congrats! I remember how excited I was when I hit Blue Sparx. smilie

My dS membership has lasted almost for nine years but I still am just an Emerald Sparx. But having 3,5-year posting break does that to you. If I had posted every week since I joined, I'd be in top 5 users based on gem count.

Pretty sure they mean this in a relative stance, as in they've been here for so long that they feel old.
