As someone who played the game... No idea... It just sorta falls off and disappears when she starts moving, with no explanation.

I think it's a meta thing. The dev' thought she was scarier without her beak, or sexier since they probably aren't a furry, being Christian and all.

It depends.

At the very least, it's always at least explicitly shown that Sonic CARES about Amy and considers her a deeply close friend. He also seems noticeably upset about when Amy doesn't recognise him in his Werehog form in Sonic Unleashed. And in Sonic and the Black Knight, he had planned to go on a date with her before getting pulled into the book. So as far as the game canon goes, it's "open to interpretation". They aren't a solid thing but there is reason to believe he has feelings for her.

In the Japanese Sonic X, he does actually love her though, pretty deeply actually, the show is just somewhat subtle about showing it. He also doesn't flat out commit to a relationship with her, despite his feelings for her.

And in Sonic Boom, Sonic flat out says he has a crush on her and gets flustered whenever other characters tease him about it. Likewise with Amy, who is much less forward about her crush on Sonic in this show.

Often serious advice or moderating she does gets ignored.
That's actually an issue with most non-S&N mods when they try to step in and enforce the rules while S&N mods aren't around.
