"You're the most privileged

You live with 84 out of 100 points of privilege.

You’re among the most privileged people in the world. We don’t live in an ideal world, but you happened to be born into an ideal lot. This is not a bad thing, nor is it something to be ashamed of. It just means a lot of other people in the world don’t live life with the advantages you have, and that’s something you should always be aware of. Hey, the fact that you took the time and effort to check your privilege means that you’re already trying."

Thanks Buzzfeed.

You’re quite privileged. You’ve had a few struggles, but overall your life has been far easier than most. This is not a bad thing, nor is it something to be ashamed of. But you should be aware of your advantages and work to help others who don’t have them. Thank you for checking your privilege.

"You live with 20 out of 100 points of privilege (Red text reads: You are Under-Privileged)

You’re underprivileged. The world is not a fair or ideal place and you know that because you grew up with several identities that the world is not kind to. You had a lot of challenges to overcome simply to get on a level playing field with most people in the world. It is not your job to educate the world about its injustices, but if you choose to, go ahead and send them this quiz. Hopefully it will help."

I have had to put up with crap for being Asian. I have had to put up with crap for being a lesbian. I have have had to put up with crap for being Catholic. I have even had to put up with crap for being a god damn furry! At one point I fell into a deep depression, feeling like the entire world was against me. I seriously contemplated suicide. What snapped me out of it, though, was... You won't believe this... When I discovered Bronyism. I'd never met a fandom who was so patient and tolerant of other people's differences before. So for a while I identified as a "Pegasister" even though I wasn't THAT interested in the show. That only lasted for about 5 minutes, though, because then I started getting ostracize for liking ponies and for being a "pony***", even by my own parents who look down on 'childish' stuff. Years later I skipped over to FNaF for just a little while, but then the exact same thing started happening, so I went back to MLP because I realized I would have **** thrown at me no matter what I do, and might as well concede. I avoid Undertale like the plague because of this reason.

I realized that the only way to stop people from hurling **** my way for literally no reason is to completely hide my identity, who I am, and what I like, and avoid all human contact where ever possible, because every single little thing about me is a reason for people to hate me.

The first question is a bit ethnocentric, though.

"Are you white?"

So if you're a white person living in Japan, where they have a derogatory term for white people ("Gaijin") and aren't fond of outsiders, you're just as privileged as if you were a white person living in the US. Got it.

So you can start whining about how you think this relates so much to you and gives you the right to call others out based on the standards of an online Buzzfeed quiz?

Yeah, that will help...

And if anyone couldn't tell, that was sarcasm. If you could, I'm not trying to patronize you.

I keep thinking that if some poor, starving, black, cis (gasp) kid in Africa filled this quiz he would get around the same score than I did. Maybe some 10 points less, tops.

He isn't bullied because of his race.
He isn't bullied because of his religious beliefs.
He isn't bullied because of his sexuality.
He has never had unpaid internships.
No-one has ever called him a ***.
No-one has ever called him fat.
His parents are most certainly heterosexual (in rural Africa being gay will get you killed)
No-one has ever asked him if his hair is real. (Seriously, is something like this really just as important as whether or not you're starving?)
He isn't bullied because of his identities.
He has never tried to distance himself from any of his identities.
He has never been self-conscious about any of his identities.
He has never questioned any of his identities.
He will never have to worry about AAA-videgames not representing any of his identities.
His grandma's neighbor's dog has never barked at him the wrong way because of any of his identities.
[Insert one more part about identities to completely exclude all cis people.]

Isn't gaijin just a term for "non-japanese" people in general? I've never heard of it being used solely as a derogatory term.

I mean, depending on what the user of the word thinks, you could be considered gaijin as well since you don't live in Japan.

You know that's honestly a really good point.
"Privilege" tests like this don't work because there's a variety of factors they aren't analyzing, so they're pretty flawed. It's such a subjective thing.

Can someone explain to me why my brief stint with recreational use of pills gives me a privilege point? "You were a piece of **** so here's a privilege point".
And this is all so arbitrary. I had a garbage childhood, I've worked hard for everything I have my entire life, things haven't been great for me. But on the other hand I'm white, cisgender, straight, I'm not overweight. All of these things do make my life easier, so which outweighs which?

That didn't answer my question at all. You just called those people (formerly myself) privileged degenerates but you didn't explain why that makes them "privileged".
Having access to prescription medication at all is a privilege, I don't understand why it's limited to recreational use, that was my question.

That's interesting, since I've had a considerably different experience. When I tried to be more active in the brony community I was largely shunned and shut out by cliques that weren't really interested in meeting new people or, in some (admittedly rare) cases, even being particularly nice. Online I was told I was a friend, only to be often tossed to the side. And in person (went to a couple TCG meetings and a convention once) I was largely ignored on the few chances I tried to socialize, much like how I imagine many of the other introverts in the fandom have tried to do (but succeeded).

To be honest, it's because of the fandom and how much my views soured on them that I largely stopped watching the show and have still yet to pick it back up again. The fanbase sapped my interest.

That seems like such a weird idea. I understand the need to get away from social conflict every now and then, but there are no "safe spaces" in reality. Are these people trying to deal with their sensitive issues and insecurities, or are they just going to rely on cloistering themselves from hurtful ideas and words all their lives?
