trust me- not a lot of people are.

It's being talked about over in the SuperChargers section. Those who are against AS now hate Skylanders because of their partnership.

Now GameStop is trying to contribute to the thing as well.

Yeeeaaaaahhhhh, this doesn't fill me with good feelings.

Yeah, you'd think with the financial resources at ActiBlizz's disposal, they'd be able to vet the company a little more. Sadly not the case.

I'll just sit and watch Acti burn at its core.

Just keep in mind this is more related to Acti than Skylanders, the devs don't get to choose partnerships like those. The press release also said that was an effort from the company and they just thought the figures would be a way of expressing that, since it also implies they're doing AS related stuff with the employees as well.

I'm not sure what this is all about. Being autistic myself, should I, personally, be offended by something they did?

They treat autism like a disease that your poor poor child/sibling got, and don't really help autistic people as much as making their parents feel (less?)miserable. There's also some money distribution issues but I don't remember details, and the leaders are known to be antivax though they haven't acted on it for a while since it's controversial.

However,blame the charity and Acti, not Skylanders. As I said in previous places,the devs would have NO choice in the matter if the higher ups said they wanted 4 special figures of it, agreeing or not they had to do it.

As somebody coming from the MLP fandom, I've learned to just ignore ignorant fools who %*%#^ and moan about everything that isn't "Teh Gen4 Pons with teh sexy butts~"

This fandom isn't as big though, can't just ignore. One person saying 'lel if you support skylanders you hate autistic people' actually spreads like wildfire, seen it firsthand in tumblr and deviantArt. Then, because it's easier to kick the weak one, they witchhunt children for liking the problematic franchise.

Honestly, I've come to expect this kind of stuff from Activision. ...And yet, I still like Tony Hawk games more than Skate, I still like Guitar Hero more than Rock Band, and I still like Skylanders.

Still, I don't want the franchise to end, but I do wish they'd take a break from it.

Pretty much. You can dislike the creator but like the creation, just look at Hideki "blocked from viewing this user's twitter" Kamiya. Though with companies it goes deeper - I hope Activision gets a wake up call very soon over its short term actions and learns a lesson, but I also hope that TFB and VV don't get the worse of it; they all clearly love their work and even with their shortcomings have more eyes on the series than what it'll bring to their wallets compared to the higher ups.

For one thing: Activision didn't do enough research on Autism Speaks and just thought they could a partnership with them since they are the biggest Autism awareness corporation in the US.

Stop with the nonstop Skylanders negativity, please.

My nephew has Asberger's and I never heard anything wrong with Autism Speaks until people started speaking out about the power blue Skylanders. I'm pretty sure my sister-in-law (my nephew's mom) has even supported them in the past. There is no reason to blame anyone and ban a company just because they decided to do something good and help out what seemed to be a good organization.
