A lot of people have been pretty up in arms about this, but I'm kinda excited. While the show hasn't really kept up quality, it's still a clever idea combining two big kids series about humanoid marine animals imo. Plus, you can't deny the show's gigantic kid following over the years that might give the game a bigger audience.

Just a rumor, but during the recent gamexplain discussion, one guy was hinting at either a Splatoon movie/tv show/ theme park attraction. Not sure which but it seemed to be a movie. What Id like to know is if itd be a Japanese made film or a big Holywoo production.

If anything, I feel like it'd be an anime miniseries, considering the popularity of the manga in Japan.

News Roundup

-Callie and Marie Amiibo announced. From the looks of the trailer, they'll allow you to listen to the game's OST + some new songs whenever. They're basically just a soundtest. Whenever you listen to a song, the hub transforms into the Splatfest Concert look so you can experience it even if there isn't a Splatfest going on. They'll be released in Double and Single packs and will be released on July 8th.

-Splatoon amiibo variants are coming as well. No word on if they do anything differently. The Orange Inkling Girl is now green with a new Black shirt, the Blue Inkling Boy is now Purple and has it's skin darkened alongside new clothes, and the Green Inkling Squid is now Orange. They are apparently going to be released in limited quantities, so get them while you can if you want them. They also release in a Triple Pack and Singles just like the amiibo we have now. July 8th is the release date for these as well.

I myself would love for the Callie and Marie amiibo to unlock the Agent 1 and 2 costumes, but that might just be wishful thinking on my part.

It's time for the Splatfest you've all been waiting for. After a full year of Splatfests, it's time for the grand finale. What's the 16th and final Splatfest?

Time and time again, we’ve heard you pledge allegiance not to your favorite team choice, but to your favorite Squid Sister. Now, it’s time to show your support in the Squid Sisters Showdown! The theme is: Are you Team Callie or Team Marie?

The showdown begins at 2 AM PT on Friday, July 22, until 2 AM PT on Sunday, July 24. This will be the last Splatfest extravaganza, and we’d like everyone to have a blast!

The last Splatfest will be taking place (almost) at the same time in all regions. However the matchups will be different – the players in Japan will be matched up with those in Japan, and the players in North America and Europe will be matched up with each other. The Top 100 Players will also be tallied and announced separately for Japan region and for North America and Europe regions. Though the results will be collected from all regions, they will be combined together and announced at the same time.

In-game announcement and voting will start at 7 PM PT on Monday, July 4. Until then, please prepare yourself for the hardest decision you’ll make in your lifetime by doing some soul searching, going on a walkabout, meditating or just reading Squid Sisters fan fiction.

So are you Team Callie or Team Marie? I'm sure you guys can guess which Squid Sister I'm battling for.

Splatfests were honestly the only reason I kept playing, so after this one, I doubt I'll pick it back up. I better make it count then.

It was kinda expected really. Outside the forums I don't remember anyone going for the opposite side except out of spite.

Marie is also this decade's Chie Satonaka at this point, who's one of the few S-Rank waifus out there. Short hair, sharp tongue.

Well, now I just made myself sad that I never actually experienced any splatfests, but it was fun to watch from the sidelines nonetheless.
