So few around, being sold by the same seller and no one else.

Unfortunately, this supposed variant is riding on the coat tails of the other paring of variants for superchargers. The high volt/shield stronger combo and the roller brawl/tomb buggy combo.

Activision and Skylanders should have been more thoughtful about how they constructed their variants. Something less copy cat!!!

Someone confirmed with Acitivision that it is real. There's been more than one seller. Yes there's one seller selling it on multiple accounts but there have been different ones. I know 2 people that have the Patina Burn Cycle and both have confirmed it to be real.

At this point in time who gives a Rats @$$ if it real or not! They have a few real ones and a some fake ones but there are not ever going to be enough for us to ever have one. So get over it....

Ive read the letter DoW received and ive called, no one has heard and or have seen this figure. For now, i call BS and Fake as All Hell. Any figure can be marked special, legendary, blue, etc..

If I had to guess, I would say these are illegitimate creations. There is too much control of distribution to benefit certain ebay sellers. Reguardless of how they are made, buying one of these is supporting that process.

I don't think anyone wants to hear they have purchased something fake for several hundreds of dollars...remember Beanie Babies!!!

I have collected and followed variants through this entire Skylander existence and it just is too odd that this variant is sooo limited!! You can even find more of the employee exclusives than this one!!

I also purchase custom Skylbders from a gentlemen and he has made these patina variants with ease!!

But yeah this patina burn cycle, calling fake; like so many other variants, IF it is real, they will flood eBay.

the only true limited SkyLanders were the not for mass produced SSA figures for the media only; now they were an unreasonable amount of money for some to drop on.

Also i'm pretty sure that it was found that if you hack you can give any character a special tag.

Yeah, I've been told fake stuff to when calling activision. They've even claimed they post release dates on the Skylanders website, but we all know that isn't true.

That's because they were show casing a Special Skylander and you have to put a Vehicle on the Portal first before you can put a Skylander on the Portal. I'll link the picture when I find it.

I'm pretty much baffled none of the "connected" board members haven't yet confirmed or denied that these are real. Because of this, and the fact that there are so many of them this year requires that I retire from the rare variant collecting fiasco.

I'm 100% confident in my mind that burn cycle and crypt crusher variants are not legit. We'd have way more market availability. Heck even the stormblade employee edition has more availability than these turkeys.

Totally agree. With chase variants it's best to take the Spider-Man justice system "Guilty until proven innocent." approach. Simply considering the Dev Employee Variant Gold Fire Kraken has had more eBay listings in one month than the (fake) patina burn cycle and the (fake) special crypt crusher combined ever, they scream fake.

The lack of confirmation of this (from a customer service perspective) from Activision on their website is also why I will no longer pursue chase variants.

100% agree with you TYL, patina burn cycle is fake Fake FAKE imo. with the strongest support being the lack of them. i mean we've seen more Employee Gold Fire Krakens than this patina burn cycle. but despite all that, some here may still want to own a fake (ie, custom) patina burn cycle, but not this bloke.

kinda cool & interesting that the "Patina" term is being used for these POP Funko guys.

I guess so, but if it is indeed fake, how did they do it? Is it painted with PVC paints like the real Patina variants, or is it a less durable paint like acrylic? I doubt anyone would be willing to test it out, but it would be really interesting to know...

Whatever paint it is, it does look slightly shinier than any of the other patina variants. I have Shield Striker and High Volt, and both of their paint jobs seem much less shiny than in that picture.
