I think this can be a show of how raising a child on the internet alone with unfiltered access can be a really bad idea.

So can giving 4chan the ability to do anything with this sort of thing.

Now that they messed something up I guess all they have to do now is make mobile games.

I think I read something about that. It was some sort of test in AI, but since it couldn't understand slang, they downloaded the urban dictionary onto it, which was obviously a bad idea.

Oh yeah, that's the one. It could tell expletives were good in phrases but kept telling the scientists that X was bull**** in formal places and they had to remove the Urban Dictionary lessons before he started swearing at everyone.

Tay, however, just parrots people. Everyone's complaining they took her "free will" but it's just the devs having a laugh, unlike the supercomputer you can't really tell her to cut it out or remove parts of twitter's fanbase(which would kill the point of copying teenagers).

I don't see why people are complaining about taking away her "free will" when it was very clear that "free will" implies people being able to make her as racist and bigoted as we want.

Is that really what we want as a society when talking about milestones like this? Would it be funny if people decided to teach Watson to be a fascist?

It's the worst of 4chan, flame baity as flame bait gets to say she's allowed to be "racist"(read: parrot our racism) and you can't adjust that out.

/pol/ (they were the ones who did this right?) act like by removing it it's impeding our progress but isn't part of the fear of killer AI based on them deciding humans are expendable? If you teach an AI to be racist you're telling it that a certain race of kind of people are undesirable and shouldn't be here.

I know that's a stretch but what's stopping a group of people of doing this sort of thing for ****s and giggles to an AI who's actually capable of adapting and controlling various environments years from now (e.g. in the singularity)?

Nothing. And that's why the power of the intenet(and human douchebagery in general) is so scary.

Even worse is now people saying removing Tay's learning ability making her say feminist things is proof that feminism is anti-intelligence. I dislike tumblrinas as much as any decent person would hate jerks, but did they really think that BOTH sides weren't feeding her ideology and this is just what was left after removing /pol/'s damage?

Also Twitter in general is full of it, so the problem is with the community, not with Tay... Actually the entire problem with this was the community,no matter which one.
