BBC article here.

Quote:
Twin blasts hit Zaventem airport at 07:00 GMT, killing 11 and injuring 81, Belgium's health minister said.

Another explosion struck Maelbeek metro station an hour later. The Brussels mayor said at least 20 people were killed, according to Belgian media.

Belgium has now raised its terrorism threat to its highest level.

The attacks come four days after Salah Abdeslam, the main fugitive in the Paris attacks, was seized in Brussels.

Keep up with live updates with The Guardian here.

Nobody has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks but pro-ISIS Twitter accounts are giving hints.

I hope those in Brussels stay safe and get home without any further harm. It's so damn tiring that this **** keeps happening and it's only going to make the refugee crisis worse as nations become more hesitant to let anyone in.

They already hit two places, I hope there aren't anymore bombings today...

If anyone here lives in Belgium, stay safe.

Same as everyone else. Pretty much when everyone stopped being worried about it, but the intention is really to make the refugee crisis worse, the more chaos and controversy the less time spent preventing this.

A few years back, shortly after the Boston Bombing, Rooster Teeth co-founder Burnie Burns explained his thoughts on an episode of the RT Podcast, and I think that same advice applies here.

Quote:
We do not have to be afraid of the dark that they live in. That is the point. Don't fall into it - this is what happens every time, and people get up in arms about things and they get emotional, and make emotional decisions that effect the rest of our lives.
The best thing that you can do is help people who are hurt, and get them back on their feet in a real effective manner, and then figure out how to go forward from there, and don't celebrate these people by being afraid of them.

Pretty much, I remember when Burnie first said that, worse were some people missing the point entirely to say he eas supporting just letting these things happen. But hey, bad parts of fandoms.
Can only wish people there are safe and something reasonable can be done about it, not panic and prejudice.

I do too. I think it was because someone said RoosterTeeth should be ashamed of themselves because they had a bombing in an episode of RvB or something like that.

Agreed. While it's good to have emotions in relation to stuff like this, we shouldn't let it cloud our judgement when it comes to solving the issue.

One of our old friends from the time we lived in Belgium was on his way today or tomorrow to come here. Hope he's alright.

I don't think there ever was a bombing, at least not within the first 10 seasons, I really only care for those.

There was a talking bomb named Andy. I miss him.

Eh, it was in some large scale RT show, I can't remember which. I figured it wasn't RWBY since I've seen all of it, so I went with the more popular one.

The only thing I can really find is some drama between Roosterteeth and something by the name of Giant Bomb?

anyways, Bernie's speech was pretty awe inspiring.

Unsurprisingly, Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

http://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-europe-35869266

Quote:
Islamic State (IS) militants have issued an official statement claiming the Brussels attacks, following up on an earlier report from the IS-affiliated A'maq news agency claiming responsibility on behalf of the group.

The branded statement, issued via IS's official social media accounts, warned of worse to come for "Crusader states allied against the Islamic State".

The statement said targets in the Belgian capital had been "carefully selected", suggesting the attacks might have been centrally directed. The statement did not indicate how many IS operatives were involved. It claimed more than 40 people had been killed and over 210 injured.
