I was just informed that eating kangaroos is a thing. Is it really, or is Ross O' Donovan just ****ing with everyone?
Thanks,

But Ben Franklin wanted our animal to be the turkey. So maybe in Australia history the Australia version of Ben Franklin got his way.

Do you guys cook the baby kangaroos in the pouch at the same time so they come out like little fried kanganuggets?

I mainly see it as raw pet food.
Also, the natives themselves have been hunting and eating them for thousands of years. I really don't understand why foreigners see Australia as such a weird place. |

It's just very different from what we're used to is all, particularly in terms of wildlife. But that makes it cool, not weird.

How is eating a kangaroo any different than eating chicken, cow, or deer?

It's only different before it gets turned into food.
I'm really curious to try some kangaroo now, actually.

I feel a science lesson coming on... Cows, deer, chicken and kangaroo are all primary consumers whilst dogs are a tertiary consumer. The flow of usable energy in the trophic levels (food chain) decreases as you reach the top. Starting at the bottom with the producers who have the most energy (e.g. photosynthesizing organisms), primary consumers, secondary consumers and tertiary consumers (most carnivores, including humans). At each level only about 10% of the total energy from each trophic level is usable to the consumer. So when grass has 10000 kcal available only 1000 kcal is available for the primary consumers to use. Even then not all of the available energy will be used and will be lost as heat, so even more energy is lost at each step. Tertiary consumers have only about 10 kcal in their biomass which makes their meat almost useless for nutrition and you'd have to eat way more in order to sustain yourself. Also, being tertiary consumers, their numbers are far less than primary and secondary consumers making them an unreliable food source meaning you'd use more energy to hunt/farm and feed them then you would from consuming them. So biologically, eating dogs is very different from eating cows. Which also explains why the novel/movie "Soylent Green" where humans are eaten by humans ![]() I just have: |

On top of all that, they're kinda considered a plague there, aren't they, to the point even this is good population control? I haven't read about that in ages, feel free to correct me.

So does this mean that if a bunch of us are ever trapped in a cave and need to resort to cannibalism that we should definitely eat the vegetarians first?
