Some McDonald's branches banning under 18's [CLOSED]

Eight people were arrested after police sent armed officers and a helicopter to reports of a fight and gunshots. They've now been bailed.

Now it means under-18s will only be able to dine with an adult. Otherwise they'll have to take their food away.

McDonald's says the ban is to protect other customers and it'll stay in place for the "time being".

The company insists it's not specifically targeting young people but wants to address the problem, which, in this case are under 18s.

Seems like really bad damage control that's not even going to work. The issues happened near the building,not inside of it. They'll take their food away and fight right in front of it, great work.

Is this a UK thing or US as well?

I don't think it's going to work and it's definitely age discrimination. My guess is this isn't the first time this happened to this McDs and they just got really tired of it because teens tend to be ****ing awful in places like this (I don't remember just how many fights or incidents we've heard of regarding McDs in Brooklyn alone).

I believe that it's just a UK thing. Sure, there are teenagers that do commit anti social behaviour in places like this but I'm 17 and wouldn't do anything of the sort. If they want to crack down on anti social behaviour, they should ban individuals, not whole age groups.

guys under 18s can still order food but they cant eat it within the mcdonalds itself and have to eat it elsewhere which is pretty fair if they have been causing a lot problems
also some kfc branch is doing it too but op cut that out for some reason

Oh okay I missed that part. That's way more reasonable.

I still don't like it because it's discrimination against teenagers, but I can see why they did it.
