No information yet. Last wave of Trap Team came out late April/early May.
Spoiler alert: Incoming wall of text repeating how Disney Infinity and Lego Dimensions are better with release dates, how Skylanders is dying and how they will probably not release regular Thrillipede and Buzz Wing.

If worse comes to worse, we did get a release of the character, albeit an subjectively-unappealing Easter form.

I personally don't think they're coming out, and if they do, it will probably be overseas.
Wish they did things like the competition. Guaranteed releasing of figures, and on certain days. Something, something, wall of text. Again, don't think they're coming out. They would have mentioned something by now. Oh, wait. They don't communicate with their customers. Guess we get them when we get them... if we get them.

Newkill even just brought up TT's last wave too. To complain the same things once again, even ignoring facts goes.
But huh I swore Wave 5 was earlier last year. Well, we've got a whole month before panicking, but I can tell you two users who must be already.

The very last figures from each series have been released in the US in June for the last three games (S2 Drobot, Jade Fire Kraken, King Cobra Cadabra respectively).
Can't say for sure when Wham-Shell was first released for SA, as that was really staggered/unadvertised. Safe to assume it could be anywhere from now until end of June. For all we know they'll break up Thrillipede and Buzz Kill between two releases somewhere in April/May/June, unless it's been confirmed they'll be released as a two pack.

Late April, early May 2012 for Wham Shell Dahvoo. Came out in Australia first.

I don't want to repeat the same things once more so I'll express the same concept in another way.
Activision made a lot of bad decisions with SuperChargers, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want to end its course with two new figures (one of which is a brand new character) not released properly. It might not be their fault directly but I'm confident they will do everything they can to not make it happen. I just don't see them not releasing at all, absolutely.

Seems like you successfully put the idea that they are not coming in other people's head, well done... I think it is unlikely they will not release them. Yawn Traps are just three grayed out spot in Trap Team's collection, they don't prevent access to gameplay elements, so it is not a big deal in the end. Thrillipede and Buzz Wing are a playable character and vehicle, which are required to play a Supercharged challenge. They also showed them in at least 2 official videos. If they really don't get released, I will not run to the competition and say the franchise is dead, but I will not be indifferent and might change my plans about collecting everything.

Thanks, new kill, forgot about the Supercharged Challenge.
Even if Thrillipede is out in the form of his easter variant we still need Buzz Wing to play it. I sincerely don't understand why we are worrying about it even more now. I'm just curious about the when, not the if.

Here is the issue I see. You have Target selling figures and vehicles for the current game for $3-4 this week. Best Buy and Gamestop are essentially selling them at half off. Starters are selling at up to 80% off. And Walmart could pretty much care less about the whole franchise. That doesn't bode well for wide distribution of Wave 5. Stores aren't fond of having to Fire Sale items to clear shelf space, and they reflect that in future orders. I don't see stores like Target lining up to buy figures when they have to sell the ones they have that cheaply to move them.
While I do think they will be released, I am imagining they will only really be found at TRU. And they probably will expect the cases be most if not all Thrillipede/Buzzwing. |

Is this a room full of newbies?!?!?
Judging by the comments and responses it looks like it!! Every year they have had 5 waves and this will be no different!! Giants was Drobot, Swap Force was Doom Stone, Trap Team was Enigma, this year it will be Thrillipede!! Give it time!! Releases have been falling about once month ahead of schedule just because the game is released early!! Let's slow the fire of crazy responses and know this will be coming!! |

Right under stinkbomb29's post too. Was Doom Stone as rare as Scratch, though? And Enigma kiiinda doesn't seem as uncommon as Light and Dark and Echo, though don't quote me on that. Cores on the last wave seem rarer than the final gimmicklanders.

That's why we are saying it, because we aren't newbies. This is new. 50-80% off pretty much at any store you go to in March is new. What isn't new is last year the showed that they were willing to not release items when retailers weren't interested - as they weren't with Traps. Yes, they have 5 Waves, per usual - but for us to get those waves retailers have to order them. And if you were a retailer and forced to do discounts like these to sell them would you be anxious to order more stock? Or would you want to shrink the shelf space and stock items that are selling? |

Actually traps sold well, but because it's all the same sku and they heavy packed waters the system kept saying "no need to order - we have plenty" but getting all of the unique shapes required very swift and accurate store searching. To which I'm very upset I put forth all of that effort and money to get them all, only to be short three because they decided not to ship them. I'll take note of the sku config in the future, that's for sure.
On the Buzz/Thrill topic: every year we get the same complaints that the last figure will NEVER arrive, but they are suddenly silenced when it does. We're a group without much need to discuss these days, so I guess we're bored. |

I'd love to be silenced on the matter of Buzz Wing. Only reason I'm saying it won't, is because they refused to release everything with the last game.
Well, that and the fact that overseas territories didn't apparently receive Series 2 Drobot. So, it has happened. Plus, Superchargers is having sale after sale. They're hurting and desperate to get rid of stock. The stores, meaning. Just like people theorize about the traps, well what if stores don't order wave 5 this time because of their current stock and constant sales? I mean, really. I've never seen so many sales for Skylanders in such a short period of time.

Oh I think they'll release both. There's a difference between the yawn traps and Thrillipede with Buzzwing. The later are pretty much two playable characters, while the former is just an ascetic difference.
I would be very very very surprised (and pissed) if they didn't release them. It's be a much much much worse decision.

probably not. most likely australia will see them in a combo pack and the rest of the world won't. considering the track record most pointed out, something doesn't get released like it should and with so many sales of deep discounts there's no point to releasing something new when they want to shift gears to the next game.

Track record. Let's look at this for a second. We have three years of everything being released in the US, then we hit year four and they fail to release three items, three Traps, in the US. Yup. You're correct. The track record says we're doomed to live without Thrillipede or Buzzwing in the US.

Yes, let's look at it.
Giants: triple packs 8 and 9 never released, meaning Series 2 Bash was only released once. Single Jet Vac wasn't released, meaning if you bought Portal Owners Pack assuring yourself you'd get him as a single later down the line, you got played. Swap Force: triple packs 5 and 6 never made it out down here. The trend of later wave singles going bye-bye faster than you could think started rearing its ugly head. Trap Team: later waves barely stayed on shelves. Refused to release all traps in some capacity. Light and Dark traps exceptionally hard to find. It wasn't just TT that started the trend of not releasing everything. That's been going on since Giants, and believe me, some people bought the Portal Owners Pack only. So let's say they did, and then bought the 3DS game. How do they complete their collection with a missing Jet Vac? Buy used or buy another Starter. Again, some folks got played there.

(for the US at least) All characters were obtainable in some form or another. If you actively followed the game (ie. didn't get into it late) you never missed out on playing as a certain character because it never came out.
Notice how all of these "missing" waves were of alternate characters (lc Pop Fizz) or rereleases (s2 Bash) - toys that did not provide significant new content such as a level or new character. Thrillapede is readily available in easter form. If for some reason the last core wave doesn't happen (it's only March for goodness sake), he is there. The only one potentially "lost" in this scenario is buzz wing, which we don't even know if/how vehicles will work in the next game. Specific vehicles do offer more optional content (supercharge combo, quest) than a specific trap sculpt did (no difference), though. The only significant difference between Skylanders and other TTL is that the others patch in new characters. Perhaps this element of "surprise" is more favorable for an "everything or nothing" fan since there are no expectations offered upfront?

Giants: not sure if Jet-Vac Single Pack wasn't released at all but I ended up buying him on eBay so it's actually really probable and that's indeed a mistake (even if his Lightcore version was available). Series 2 Bash, though...? Ok, it is a mistake but I can't consider it to be as bad as not releasing a brand new character (or figure in case of Buzz Wing) even if it's still worse than Yawn Traps in my opinion. SWAP Force: don't remember who those Triple Packs contained but I'm pretty sure all those characters got released as singles by then, maybe with the exceptions of a couple S2/3. Trap Team: I think that may vary a lot depending on the country, I had no problem picking up the later Waves and Light and Dark traps were rather easy to find. Kaos's was a bit more difficult but it eventually became quite common as well. Yawn Traps were indeed a bad thing for collectors but in the end they are nothing but a very small aesthetic preference. Buzz Wing has never been released before and not releasing it would be so wrong I sincerely don't want to think about the consequences. I personally won't buy Eggcited Thrillipede and wait for his regular counterpart; this year should at least teach Activision to not release variants before their normal versions... Funny thing is there wouldn't probably be all this buzz (forgive me if you can) if we were talking about reposes or variants instead of something completely new.

I'm not too worried about this whole thing yet, maybe a little moreso with Thrillipede though since his easter version has gotten more of a push for... obvious reasons. Wave 5 is usually revealed late, and they probably wouldn't leave us with a blank Supercharged Challenge of all things; that is much different than an icon on the collection screen. Just wait through April and maybe some of May until we grab the pitchforks. Wave 4/4.5 just ended, so give them time.

The triple pack fiasco is why I stopped buying them. Activision's marketing blunders has made it easy for me to reduce my collecting habits. The missing traps means I won't collect any non-skylander to its fullest extent. And with the excessive number of variants, I've extended that to skylander figures now. But with all of the hemming and hawing going on, no one in the US has been without a skylander release in one form or another, and I don't think that's happening now.

I agree, Portal Pack owners are looking for a cheaper alternative - not usually going to be people that endeavor to collect all the figures. Besides, there was Lightcore Jet Vac for those that got it and really wanted to play him.
Let me be clear about my statements before, I do think it is silly to believe we won't get a mainline figure even in the retailer climate of today. I am certain TRU will get them, at minimum - their investment in the franchise is pretty big. Gamestop also probably gets them, they have a pretty big commitment in them this year as well. I do however believe that they won't be at all retailers or in large numbers at many of these big box stores that need the shelf space (like Target, Walmart and Best Buy). They are the ones that are trying to get rid of the stuff, so they won't be that anxious to restock, even for a new figure (particularly since they typically pack them in assortments with stuff that isn't selling now). The biggest impact of all of this will be the fate of Skylanders 6. This franchise requires a large amount of shelf space that retailers are hesitant to give in large amounts to flagging franchises. |

#39 Posted: 15:49:38 15/03/2016
Yeah, but the point is those who wanted ALL figures, couldn't get a regular jet vac single, in package, if that's what they were waiting on. Like the Yawn Traps, they simply weren't released here, but in other countries.
And again, I don't think Buzz Wing and Thrill will be out. Heck, Acti isn't even trying to stay competitive, because they would be filling shelves with product and releasing new product to compete with the competitions products. Case in point, this is how most of my stores look on Skylanders - https://m.facebook.com/photo.p...6&ref=bookmarks How can you compete when you can't even get wave 4 in, let alone wave 5? Meanwhile today I'm loaded on new TTL from the other brands - https://m.facebook.com/photo.p...6&ref=bookmarks https://m.facebook.com/photo.p...6&ref=bookmarks It's like the competition always makes sure to stay stocked, while Skylanders doesn't even try. Didn't notice until I saw the pics, but are those clearance tags on those pegs in the Skylanders section? I mean, dang... That's just one store. I have a walmart here that doesn't even carry Skylanders anymore, but still carries Dimensions and Infinity. How can stores get wave 5, when Acti doesn't seem to care, or stores if we wanna blame them instead of precious Activision, and they don't even try to stay competitive. Like I said and agree with others, if Buzz Wing releases it will be overseas only *cough*yawn trap*cough*

Seriously, that's such an unrealistically small, virtually insignificant group of people. They bought either the Portal Owner's Pack or *only* the 3DS pack (and if you were a 3DS-only fan, you already got screwed with SSA and no options for Spyro, Trigger Happy, and Gill Grunt. Man, you missed out on Gill Grunt... there's a complaint I've never heard). They wanted a regular Jet Vac (either instead of or in addition to Lightcore, Legendary, and even Series 3/4 Jet Vacs later down the line). They refused to buy used (when Jet Vac is dirt-common used). Apparently, they wanted to save $15 by getting the Portal Owner's pack, but then wanted to spend $10 full price on a new Jet Vac. They missed out on the plentiful opportunities to get the promo three-pack at Best Buy or GameStop. They missed out on getting Giants Starter packs for $10 (or less!) through the various sales that have been since then. If there's anyone here who falls into this group, please speak up now. I'm curious to know. Quote:

Unc don't kid yourself, buddy. You're saying they had a limited release only to look right when you kept telling me they would. A limited release would mean anyone who wanted them could go find them, not talk to the right CSR at the right time. Bottom line they didn't release here.
Lemons, please chastise me. I can't wait. Means that unlike Trap Team, everything registrable was actually released. Again though, today or this week would have been the perfect time, but nope. They don't want to stay competitive. Rather they'd rather let stores hurry and get rid of what old stock they have, through massive amounts of fire sales and clearances.

Say, I had not a single lineup of the first three games come out properly on Brazil before the cancelling. If this is looking like a problem now, you guys had it easy. People can feel free to look at the left pane on any post, see GameMaster78 and skip the post. In the 5 years I've been posting here I didn't start really going on and on until all these mistakes started coming about. I'm not forcing anyone to read my opinions and anyone who's anyone is free to skip past my ranting tirades.
Maybe Sky 6 will restore the faith in customers that have been lost in a lot of peeps. Who knows. All I know is they've refused to release stuff before. No reason they won't do it again and say something like "oh well that's a supercharged challenge. It doesn't stop you from technically 100%ing the game as we give you various ways to get enough stars for trophy/achievement hunting." Meanwhile, I'm sitting here thinking about how one could spend 376 dollars this week and get every stinking thing that's been released for Lego Dimensions, that includes a starter, pending one is a gamers club unlocked member. Certainly got my neighbor convinced. He's skipping Skylanders this year and about to take him to get all released Dimensions stuff. He sees the value, and I know others do as well. Why isn't Acti trying to cut into that? They used to boast and care about how they were number 1. They fall off the radar and it's bail out? No new info on the last release? No info on Sky 6 outside of maybe a small showing at one of the bigs booths at E3? How do you compete if you refuse to release two things people are looking for, while the competition is not only releasing new stuff today, but allowing you to get it all at less than what it cost to get 37 Figures and a starter for the first Skylanders game? Know what I think? I think Acti is scurred, and in the interest of protecting their bottom line, they're gonna give us the big brush off soon. Hope I'm wrong and I'm chastised for it (crossing my fingers for ya Lemons), but until Acti/TFB/VV gives me some reason to have faith in their business ethics and practices, what else can I do but vent frustration? Oops, ranted again. Sorry. Feel free to pass up the wall of text. It's as simple as not reading. It's never easy for some to read opinions that don't agree with their line of thinking. Understandable.

I haven't read anything but your last lines for the last week. You're a little late to be smug about it.
ANYWAY, BEFORE WE GET A TON OF POSTS DELETED FOR OFF TOPIC, lastest it can be is June? Then let's wait for that. Chances are they'll have it with the Skylanders 6 reveal though, for a 'for you guys who are still lagging behind on SC, here's a reason to finish it asap' moment like it was with Ninjini if I recall.
