The humour we use in the group can range from blatant racism, cancer/aids jokes, autism jokes, sexual topics, profanity, and anti-tumblr extremist humour, homophobia, etc. All in good fun and none of us would actually mean it, of course. So it is recommended that you are mature enough to handle stuff like that.
We do have limits, however. We don't tolerate rape jokes and suicide jokes are made rarely and only with certain company.
^ Personally I've found these surface more frequently in calls with certain people rather than in the chat itself, in my personal experience at least. The topic seems to be brought up less frequently than previously in general, though. (Well, as far as the chat goes - considering how infrequently I join calls, haha)

There's no real "qualifications" to join the Skype group, all you need is a Skype account which is free (Well, there are micro transactions but we manage to find loopholes around them). If you want to join the calls, you need some sort of mic (and headphones because sometimes there's an echo).
I'm warning you guys, like the others have, the Skype group is really not for everyone. If you want to see what it's like you're free to join and talk with us, but the humor can get a bit strong and controversial but don't be fooled. There's a lot of heart and supportive people there who are willing to help at any moment.
But it's all up to you if you want to do that. We won't mind if you're not up for it, and that's okay.
Not to mention while the Skype group isn't bounded by a lot of the rules of the site, the group does have its own set of rules that are enforced by more than one mod and we aren't all that down with people who just want to come in and be a jerk to everyone.
Alright, let me get a couple of things straight here. I'm just going to keep it real and say what some people here have been trying to say on this topic indirectly.
It is a clique, it really is. People joke about it, and then they joke about the jokes, but really it all boils down to the kind of a "special club" that (I suppose) some people think it is. That doesn't mean that it's all bad, but it does make certain things more difficult for people who want to be a part of it.
So yeah. This thing isn't some "official" dS Skype group or anything. It's just a Skype group inhabited by mostly old-time users of darkSpyro, and most of the times the discussions that we have there have nothing to do with darkSpyro at all. For many of us it's a just place outside of darkSpyro to keep in touch with our darkSpyro friends.
I won't lie. If you don't belong in that circle of friends, you're likely going to have to fit in under some scrutiny from the other members of the group. There have been instances in the past where some users failed to do that, and they ended up leaving the group due to disagreements and/or not feeling welcomed.
As mentioned prior to this post, our humor can also be very direct. This may come as a surprise for anyone who has only seen us post on darkSpyro. We sometimes make fun of a broad range of subjects, and at times we can be a very nasty bunch. So anyone there would have to be able to deal with things like that, at least to an extent.
Now, of course you don't have to take all our **** and laugh with us, but do understand that the group isn't going to change for anyone who doesn't like that sorta stuff.
If you do want to join up, you'll be let in alright, but fitting in is what you really have to do if you want to feel like you're a part of it. I know it isn't what CAV originally created it for, but I think that's kinda how it is right now. I feel that some people may have an overly optimistic view of it all, and I just wanted to give you guys a heads up.
On the positive side, as CAV also stated, we don't just talk ****. We're also close friends who try to support and care for each other. We're not assholes, many of us just see it as "our thing", and that's reflected on how we behave there.

Personally I think it's really for the best for people in there to be more welcoming and accepting of new people. Yeah if the considerable lenience from the dS rules is not your style then I wouldn't really recommend coming in and trying to stomp all over everyone's fun but at the same time this warning doesn't mean the group has a right to act that way towards people from the get go, or get malicious or talk badly behind their back instead of speak to them directly when there's a problem.
When I owned the group and at one point had only two rules even then the longstanding policy was "don't be a dick" and we've had people permanently removed from the group because they just couldn't abide by that. I would like it if we didn't act that way towards people who have an interest in coming in.
Instead of acting like an exclusive clique that pretends to be welcoming to newcomers how's about we just be welcoming to newcomers period? Chances are a good few of us in that group are introverted in person and have a hard time making friends and after spending nearly a year on EqF I realize just how hard it is to try and make friends with a clique of people who claim they see you as a friend but really don't give a **** otherwise. I'd rather not continue to have others go through the same especially now when they're actively seeking to join.
Then again I'm not nearly as active in the group as I used to be so I may have a different perspective.

I'm 87% sure that's because there's people in the group who are sensitive to that sort of humor, not to mention there was an incident a while back involving such to where we felt it best to not allow those jokes.
Personally I think a joke is fine so long as it's not malicious or implying harm on someone (e.g. I hope you get ____" but if a majority of users feel that cancer/AIDS are things that shouldn't be joked about it's not like I'll enjoy the group considerably less without them.

I wasn't saying anything bad about the group, I just didn't understand the selective rules about what offensive things are allowed. Aha.
Like you said, as long as you're not being malicious, a joke is just a joke.
I always feel like cancer jokes and other taboo jokes are ok if your friends make them too, and as long as no one in the group is or knows someone being affected by it.
Trust me I wouldn't mind if you were saying anything bad.
The rules have been crafted partly on a matter of trying to avoid incidents that happened in the past. I imagine if there was an incident involving someone making a cancer joke that would also be against the rules.
