Okay really? I like Ghostbusters but I think it's stupid how all four of them are now genderbent. Of course, everything else about the movie is well done, but I find this a rather blurry focal point.

To the people calling it SJW pandering or things of that sort, please explain to me how. Because all I'm seeing here is female Ghostbusters and I fail to see how that's suddenly pandering to SJWs.

It doesn't really look all that good (mind you I've never really cared about Ghostbusters to begin with) but if it turns out bad I really doubt it'll be because they're all women now.

i just....It doesn't look awful. i honestly went into this trailer assuming I would despise it cuz i've been criticizing it since its announcement

But I got an OG Ghostbusters vibe from it with a slight new twist, it seems they arent trying to change it too much for newer audiences, like most reboots and continuations do

obviously im the 1% but eh, it might be complete trash or it might surprise us

when I first saw reveals about this I thought it only existed because of feminazi's but now that I see the trailer, and eh, not bad. Not particularly funny either but it doesn't look bad. I'm actually curious about it now

Alright, listen. I'm sorry I started something. I do personally think that this is blatantly trying to pander. Quite obvious in fact. First off, I've heard through the grapevine that the rights were given to a very vocal SJW, though I'm not sure about the legitimacy of that claim as I can't find any proof. Now, the girls are also unattractive(sorry, but they are) and this is something that I know is an SJW complaint. They complain that there's no real unattractive women in media. If you want to make a movie about unattractive women, more power to you. However, if you make it a point to have unattractive people simply for diversity than please don't make a film, at least not one where sending a message to your audience isn't the point. In a movie like Ghostbusters, I doubt it would have a message at the end. Again, if you want to have unattractive characters and make a movie with a message, then by all means, go ahead.
You could argue that some people find these women attractive, I'm just stating what I think.

Now, as for the racial diversity, I actually have heard feminist's complain that she isn't a scientist, and therefore isn't proper representation. I honestly never had a problem with her from the beginning, if you want a black character, go a head I don't care. But don't do it for the sake of racial diversity. Do it because you just ****ing want to. "Oh Paris, but what if this was the writer's intention." Then that's good and dandy. More power to them.

I feel like it's pandering for these reasons, sorry if this is all over the place, i'm really all over the place at the moment.

Personally I don't think it's quite at the level of pandering yet. When they start shouting about "girl power" and the main villain that they beat up and humiliate is some woman hating macho man ghost I'll think differently but right now, at least for me, I just see a Ghostbusters movie with a female cast.

Also do we know with certainty that the actresses were cast because they aren't conventionally attractive?

I wouldn't call it pandering but there are some annoying people who insist you watch it just because the characters are women... I'll go see it if it's a good movie. Right now it looks okay I guess.

I don't remember the actors of the original movie being all that attractive either, personally. Admittedly, though, when it comes to 'attractive', I'm probably not the best judge of that anyway. *shrug*

Honestly if it's just a remake of the original film of ghost busters (like script/story wise pretty much matches the original), but with females in it, than it is pretty much sjw pandering to me. Because it's taking the entire story and making it gender bent. If you wanna have female ghost busters, that is okay with me as long as it's not a gender bent edition of the original films and more of a continuation of the series.

I may check this out to see if it's good or not, but idk.

On the subject of the "controversy": I don't see how this is SJW pandering. I mean, the people saying that it's racist because the black woman isn't a scientist are just idiots. And if it were, then there'd probably either be this big "girl power" vibe or they'd draw more attention to the fact that they're women.

On the subject of the movie itself: Honestly, it doesn't look that bad to me. Doesn't look like the greatest movie ever made, but it looks like it'd be a good one to see for a couple of laughs. Although it does still look to suffer from a lot of the same problems as many other reboot movies.

I'm not really a fan of how they treat Ghostbusters as a gimmick for a generic comedy. You have a franchise and you aren't using it to its full potential to expand it's lore and story. Ghostbusters does have comedy but not slapstick loud comedy every five seconds. I'm willing to bet that the group will break up 2/3 of the movie and will get together in the last twenty-five minutes. Then it will conclude with a line that opens up for a desperate sequel.

Speaking of cliche, it used the recent one of using a piano to the tune of a familiar theme. Jurassic World did this, but rock it. Here its nice, but why?

I'm so worried about this being an all-female Ghostbusters as I am worried about there being a new Ghostbusters movie.

It could be an all-male cast, it could be the original cast and it would still suck. Seriously, I don't think making a new Ghostbusters for the sake of it isn't going to be good.

It's like Robocop in which only the original is really good, probably ahead of its time but people who make sequels don't get what made the first movie good and the sequels and reboot are just garbage. Same with Men In Black.

Remember how Ghostbusters III was in development hell for decades? This new one is going to be a disaster, probably cultural vandalism.
